How to care for an injured bird?

Neck it before a cat gets it.

My Dad put a brick on a vole a cat had caught when I was a child. Nearly foutry years later a cat got a woodpigeon while my Dad was staying, I said shall I just kill it, and my Dad said "No, try and care for it.". One of the most poigniant moments in my life. I won't say how it ended, except we tried and trying "was" the right decision.

*Edit. Protect it from predators. i.e. Care for it.

I saw Simon King neck an injured bird once, not good.

When my dad got old he did got caught by an cat and we ended up having to drop a brick on him.

If you've injured a bird just make sure she tells the hospital she walked into a door and you'll be alright.

*snip* a blackbird is probably a two handed job

Too... Many... Jokes...

my mum once cared for a bird that flew into our patio window, just kept it in a show box and fed it some bread and water. let it go a couple of days later.

It sounds like a recently fledged Blackbird which would look like a lot the female (brown and mottled rather than black), but without the tail feathers, see:

In which case what you are seeing is a perfectly normal stage for a young bird, once they have matured to a certain level they will leave the nest, whilst still being cared for by the adult (what you are seeing with the Male bird continuing to feed it), as they learn to feed and fly on their own.

Your posts are laughable too. Why mock an injured animal? Would you like me to mock you when you are dying?

1000 posts is a long way for MM access isnt it ?

I'm sure the bird feels better knowing you are defending its honour.:p
