Excuse the crap pictures but you get the idea. (and the tubby frame and hairy arms!)

Slightly longer at the back as well which is great, usual 3 pockets, stitching is superb, can't see any issues there. Material is very nice quality as well. Nice gel strip at the bottom of the jersey to hold it in place.

The black one has slightly baggy arms, the white one is better.

very happy with them for the price.

What size did you go for? They look massively baggy compared to the castelli I've worn myself.

Tight around the arms and Castelli jerseys sit quite high at the front, almost above your belt if wearing jeans.

good prices there Slobbo

I think I need to look for another Jersey, not quite sure what, but I think 1 Long sleeve jersery would be usefull

currently own :
1x Torm s/s
1x Team Sky s/s
1x Altura Night Vision l/s
1x Endura Mountain Bike s/s

and my ride London one , which broke ages again, crappy quality

So what would you get to go with this lot?

Out of interest, I've been doing a fair bit of experimentation with bikes.

What do you think has the biggest effect on speed? (in my experience, considering I live in a VERY hilly area)

  • Bike weight
  • Position
  • High pressure (thin) tyres

Just the 1.

Worth it though. It's almost like a windstopper rather than just a jersey with long sleeves

I'm half from Scotchland, my Dad was born in Sterling.

There is no way I would spend that much on a jersey! :D

I'm using the Aldi zipped cycling tops ATM (£6 half price sale) with Decathlon 3/4 bib shorts, bit pricey at £20.

I've always been in the habit of taking the cartridge off to replace a pad. Never occurred to me that they're designed to be left on!
That makes sense. I'd also not considered you could do them in situ.

Paris Roubaix:
Looks like it's on Eurosport.
Random, but I had a quick chat with Matt Stephens while I was sat on my bike at some lights in Feltham earlier. He was walking home from something at Eurosport and I was like 'hello, I recognise you...' Seemed like a nice chap :D

Racing with hairy legs. Yes or no?

I don't really want to shave
I would. Keep them big guns hairy.

Position, then bike weight, then tyres, would be my guess.

I figure if I set my road bike up the way my MTB is set up, with the bars at the same height as the saddle and the saddle way down low, it would suck. I figure if my road bike weighed as much as my MTB, it would suck. I figure outside of 35mm knobbly monsters, tyres aren't going to make as much difference.

My black replacement stem from Planet X has arrived, so I've fitted that. I've probably spent more time fretting about whether it's on straight than anything else, but there you go.

So, anyone want a totally blinging 110mm silver stem? It's up on ebay, but if anyone here happens to be building an, I don't know, chrome plated bike right now, they're welcome to it for the few quid it'll cost to post. ebay link.

Edit: I missed frame stiffness.

I've been barking up the wrong tree for years.

The answer is definitely position first. (I am 6'2" (3) tall and 95 KG ish - your results may vary)
I went out on the ancient (too small) Dawes last weekend, I'm in the most aero position of any bike I have owned and despite the heavy steel frame, downtube shifters and 1 1/4" touring tyres I set a fair few PB's (beating the lightweight Allez).

Position, and flexibility is far more important that I had ever thought. (my back has been horrendous all week as a result can't even sleep)
