Gigabyte 780 GTX w/ SLI

One way to test, for anyone running sli 7 series cards with an i7, disable ht in bios and try bf4. My i5 was clocked at 4.5ghz, replaced it with a 3770k and even at 4.2ghz cpu use was much lower and card use consistently higher than 80% on the 3570k, and far less stuttering. Replicated this a while back with those cards by turning off ht on the 4770k in sig.

Yeah of course. No issue at all single card but it will choke a 780TI sli setup.

Its a educated guess and a pretty good one i think. I'd bet my life savings on it. But i don't have conclusive proof no. Opinions though. :)

Even though it has been said already, You do know the op is not wanting 780ti's don't you! :)

[email protected] Ht off

Not the most taxing map but 64 player server

If I'm not mistaken that's around a 95% gpu usage :D

The bottleneck will be present no matter what the SLI setup is i think.

:p

Try a 64 player conquest large server, rather than 32 man TDM.

Relax your cpu clock a bit too. Not sure he'll get his 2500K running that fast. :p

Filter was set to 64 man - so presumed it was.

You find the server you want me to test and invite me on.

Lol nope that's 24/32 man TDM on Silk Road, i know as i play it quite a bit myself. Good TDM map, but not very demanding. :D

EDIT

Lets do it. :D

The OP did also mention Titanfall, not sure how demanding that is but I'm pretty sure it doesn't support Mantle.

Also, OP did say they were planning to get a new CPU in the future so that could eliminate the CPU bottleneck.

That's pretty good to be fair Scotty. I wonder how much difference Haswell makes coupled with your memory though? He has only a 2500k with 1600mhz ram. I'd expect him to suffer more, but it may not be as bad as first thought. If it held back a 670 SLI setup though, you'd think it would hurt a 780 setup at least as much. Would be fascinating if someone with a 2500k and 1600mhz ram could come forward and test.

Do you have an afterburner graph like this? Its a good way to see the gpu usage in a line. I grabbed my usage and a couple of screenshot's. (the drops are when i alt tabbed out to message you) It took me a while to get on the same side as you and when i did you immediately left. :D

Also nabbed one of the infamous choke point.

Memory does help, but the biggest help is the fact that the res is 1440.

If the OP had a 1080, then as you said it would bottleneck big time.

I left as I couldn't stop laughing :D

Higher res will make a difference i suppose. At a rough estimate a 2500k would be about 200mhz ono slower than a 3570k and 3770k which i had. Ive found the 4770k to be around the same faster again than the ib chips. Memory wont make any difference as ive used 1600mhz stuff in this current setup and ran the ram in sig at both 2400 and 2600mhz.
