My asrock board is dead!!
I was going to change to intel, but can't afford it, so I've decided to just get a new 990 amd board.

But which one?.....

The gigabyte 990fxa ud7

The asus crosshair v formula. Or the

Asus sabertooth?

Budget no issue on the choice

My specs are in my sig.

Il be also getting a corsair 'h' series cooler
And an r8/r9 gfx

I've heard lots of good things with each board, but really unsure which one, I will consider overclocking it in the future.

I'm saving for a house deposit ATM mate.
I'd love intel, but factor in
Decent board (I would go for the maximus board)
I5
R8 graphics cards
No cooler or cheaper h series coolers

It's going to be well over £200 I was willing to spend on the amd board.

Yeah I see your point mate

gotta say though ..that sabertooth does look the part and its a good price ...but I have found with Asus Mobos they can tend to be a little slow on booting

that gigabyte looks a nice board too ...but more money

Thanks... Been 2 weeks with no computer now and it's driving me mad.

As for boot time, it's usually left turned on for a day or two at a time anyway.
So I can live with a few seconds, my operating system is on a ssd anyway which will help a tad.

If I go for the gigabyte board it will more than likely last 2years plus!
By then, (after new house) il have a new graphics card (or 2)
A good cooler, and a new case. So later down the line il just need intel board and CPU, and swap everything over.
This way il not be skint, and still have a decent rig up and running

sabertooth it is then lol..nice one....i was gonna get the Asus Z87 SABERTOOTH Intel Z87...but a little too much money lol....but as ya say....in time :)

Yeah, I really want the asus maximums extreme board, (one day ....)

I think the saber tooth will be good for all round, value for money, OC ability, expansion, il see what payday brings, if I can afford the gigabyte il go for that, but if I can't il just settled for the saber, as many people seem to rate it.

Thanks grant

Yeah no bother mate,
I'm sure other people will contribute too.

It's good to get a broad opinions

I don't know either about mobos, well full computers on general lol
Only done one build, lasted 18months but I did buy cheaper parts

+1 for the crosshair z. Its what I'm using currently and I think its a great board. However if this replacement mobo is more of a stop gap I'd probably go for the saber tooth and save some money.

I have a few CHFV-Zs and also a Sabertooth. TBH if you are not going to go extreme clocking, the Sabertooth is more than enough for the job. I bought the Crosshairs with the intention of using the ROG connect clocking feature, since i was clocking and binning a number of fx chips every week but if it wasn't for that, i would have grabbed the Sabertooth or something cheaper.

Crosshair did have a VRM/NB waterblock available if you like your custom cooling though! More of an aesthetic upgrade but worth it as it lines up perfectly with EK GPU block connections with just a small 10mm extender.

I happen to know someone who has one on the members market as well as its appropriate nb/vrm block which is near impossible to find as it is now EoL and originally cost 90 euro!

*Cough*
