Replacing some parts in my pc.
Please can you help me pick.
I will be keeping my graphics card as that is a AMD R9 280x and my PSU as this has been upgraded already.
The machine will be used for mainly gaming, streaming, photo editing.
No overclocking

CPU = Intel I7 4770 or 4771 ? Which is best? I keep hearing mixed reports.

Mobo = I plan to keep my dell inspiron 570 case, so please can you help me pick what size mobo I need and then which one?

RAM = I was thinking 16gb, possibly this ?

Fan = I also wanted to replace the Dell Fan in my case with something that is a bit more quiet if possible?

Hello and welcome to the forum :)

Please keep to one thread as it will make things easier.

Look at the 4770k with a Z87 motherboard this will allow for overclocking if you fancy (I assume this is for gaming?)

Memory looking good but usually 8gb is fine.

If you have a quick measure of the board it should be around 30cm long to be ATX, hopefully the Dell case can take another motherboard rather than its own branded one.

Hi :)
100% will be no overclocking. Do you still recommend the 4770 over 4771 if no overclocking will be done?
What do you mean by "hopefully the Dell case can take another motherboard rather than its own branded one" ? Surly if I get the correct size (ATX or A-ATX ) it will fit?

Here is a picture for reference

Dell tend to make it difficult to upgrade components by using their own sizes for PSU, motherboard etc

So you'll have to check whether your case will be accommodate an ATX motherboard

I would stick with the 4770k (I don't think the 4771 will have any performance gains over the 4770k) it will allow you to get a free performance boost if you did fancy a small overclocking :p

Dell in the past have used different mount system to attach the motherboard to the case and also connecting the front ports up - from USB to power on switch.

Edit: It looks like the motherboard is Matx but have a look at the link below it will show the dimensions.

Ok thanks.
How do I check this? Simply by measuring the mobo?
I've searched online but cant find any info
I've already replaced the PSU with a corsair without issues, so I thought the motherboard would be the same if I got the correct size.

I have edited my post above with a link for motherboard sizes, also have a look how the usb ports are connected and on / off switch. :)

You can check how it is mounted in place so where the screws are. Maybe you can take a picture and post it here if you get stuck
