Hello, so today as I was in a rush, turned off my pc as usual and left my house. Than when I comeback the fans were still spinning, no one else had access to my PC. This only happened today, I cleaned the registry, now scanning for any viruses and checked the setting in Power options. I haven't tried CMOS, that'll be next on my list. Could this possibly be C6 or C7?

P.S The only thing I did on the system today, was to install Oracle Virtualbox and installed Xubuntu 13.10.

Any ideas before CMOS?

Edit:

No viruses, used Malwarebytes v1.75 Pro to scan the system

Do a full shutdown and then press the power key on the case for 10-15secs and get rid of any residual power build up maybe.

Can't say I have ever come across you problems before tbh.

I tried this already :(

I forgot to mention that the system is freshly installed, only installed it yesterday morning.

Reseat all power cables to the fans and check the connectors would be something I would try.

Do you have any fan software on your system? i.e Corsair Link or ASUS Fanexpert?

The only program which allows me to control them, is MSI AB.

Edit:

I've no CMOS battery, but I've restarted the CMOS but that didn't help. So I did a restore of the system, the cause was Oracle Virtualbox as it probably turned on C7 process...

Edit2

Thanks for the intrest ;)

perhaps this is another issue that you aren't realising and the pc isn't shutting down or is starting up and freezing.

my pc when putting to sleep doesn't always properly sleep, it gets 99% of the way, screens off etc but the fans (and lights) never turn off and then it's frozen in this state and will only come back on by hiolding the power button.

it also sometimes happens that it sleeps but will start up again shortly after and then freeze in this state.

this is something i've seen others mention on win8

Not in my case, the main cause was Oracle Virtualbox. Installed VMware workstation 10 and works perfectly ;)
