Ipcam P2. "Spying issue"

Hi there.

I recently brought a IPcam2 internet security camera (Google) off eBay, to monitor my mentally handicapped brother, but my brother has scanned the QR scanner and now has it on his mobile and Tab. He snoops in now and again, don't know when though etc., and its getting on my nerves - as well as being spied on. My modem flashes erratically when he connects to it, and uses tons of data. How do I change the cam settings to deny him access?. I've tried resetting it etc., but no success.

The instructions (in Hong Kong/Chinese btw) tell me just to type "Admin", and NO password. If I set a password it wont work other :confused:

This all sounds properly dodgy. You are 'monitoring' your handicapped brother? Has he agreed to this? Because if he hasn't you could be putting yourself in a spot of bother legally by doing it

Uninstall the software that it comes with and install an open source piece of software like ispy. If he is getting in via the firmware I am pretty sure there is a way that you can change the username/password to access it. You can on my tenevis one.

Must be a config file somewhere so you can add a password onto it. If it's doesn't work make sure the password is being changed correctly.
Can you set up additional users with differing permissions?

Or I have just thought. I am assuming that he is accessing/snooping from outside the network ie over the internet. So just block his remote access through the router.

No, he's "mentally handicapped" epileptic, and im his carer 24/7 since my father passed away.

Ive managed to set a password on my devices (tab, pc, phone), you set a password, then click"done" then cam restarts. so im assuming than should do it as when I try to log in via admin with no pass, then it wont let me in till I put pass in. So im assuming my brother (or anyone else, and lets face it, if they sell you an item with pass on box, they can effectively do what my brother is doing yes)? Cant access now. How do I block his remote access anyway?

Looks for remote access un the router firmware and disable. If you struggle let us know what router it is and will have a look.

Thats the router though not the IP camera. How would that help?

Sorry I got the wrong end of the stick. The op stated when his brother accessed the IP Cam the modem goes crazy so assumed that he was not living at the same address.

I would have thought that's still irrelevant. Remote access on a router setting is literally for remote access to the router. Not stopping external access onto LAN devices.

The IP camera will connect to the router, he could block his brothers IP that would then block all connections to the router and all it's devices.

Surely if the camera is at his brothers house though he's then blocking his brothers access to his own router?

Thats correct. Hes using iphone (at work) and tab at home, so when hes connecting to my cam, the modem (orange bright box btw) lights are active as data is being drawn from my modem. I think I should be ok now though with the password, as my brothers pretty clueless (runs in the family)! About modems/ pcs etc. He just finds it " intriguing" that he can us from heis phone. I dont find it intriguing though..... :mad:
