*** The Official Samsung Galaxy S5 Thread ***

I'd say you'd be lucky to get £450 so if you factor in the ludicrous fees with somewhere like ebay you'd be looking at more like £380 net.

The alternative would be trying to sell it on here but you'd likely get a stupid offer as is so often the case with the members market and high value goods.

The S5 will also be dropping pretty quickly, I'm pretty sure it'll be available around £450 in no time pushing the resale value further down.

Basically, get the phone you want, there's no money to be made here that's worth the risk of something going wrong (lost in post/scammer etc).

Aye man, was here i was thinking. Its not to make a quick buck, more not to lose money on the silly markup on the lumia 1520 that contracts have.

For context I have been offered on o2, free s5, unlimited mins/texts and 1gig data for 28 a month no up front cost. Seems like a really good deal to me, or 33 a month for 5gig. I am currently on the 1 plan with 3 at 34 a month my contract is up on the 26th but i am doubting they will keep me at that price and give me a new handset, they seem to be looking for like 42 a month for it these days.

So was really a case of should i jump at the o2 offer, and then obviously sell the s5 to buy lumia sim free and save myself about 100 if s5 went for the 450. Other option is the note 3 (i want a big screen) but i just really fancy trying the new windows phone out now.

Well my personal suggestion would be buy the HTC M8 or Sony Z2 or even the S5 and keep it but definitely not the 1520 so I guess my opinion may not be welcome!

lol, i thought the z2 looked great on the videos and is what i was going to go for if i stuck with android but having seen the z1 in the shop...urgh its nowhere near as nice as i thought lol. M8 looks alright, s5 isnt as ugly as the pictures made out either.

Problem is i want a bigger screen as majority of my phone use is browsing when commuting etc. So was note 3 or 1520 and am just tired of android, flashed a bunch of roms on my nexus but it never really looks any different so i just fancy a change.

I think the S4 looked a lot better than the s5. Samsung really need to change their design now it's incredibly predictable/boring/uninspiring.

i had a play with one today, i already have a nexus 5. It looked horrible, kinda like the S4 all over again, didnt like it at all. Okay the screen has really nice viewing angles but thats just about it. Definitely keeping my nexus 5

The Verge has finally done its review, I think its covers it up well, Samsung tick all the boxes, but the phone is boring and very uninspiring, when placed next to other flagships such as the Z2 and M8 which really try to get striking design, and both have unique looks, the S5 is mainly a plastic slab.

I was surprised by the Nexus 5, I thought it felt pretty cheap and cheerful.

Just got the s5 in white after having the s3. Nothing new here. Think I prefer the s3 to be honest in the looks and size department. I think the the s3 has a crisper screen too, my s5 seems too smooth no real edges to icons and text.

The misses nexus5 seems better apart from the camera, that thing flys yet this seems slow even after changing to ART and transitions to 0.5x.

Not keen on the colours of menus etc either would prefer plain black.

had a play with one today

found the screen much cooler - colour temp wise than my Note 3- very noticeably so

either the S5 has quite a cool screen - or the colour temp of my Note 3 is way too warm - not sure tbh

Still tempted to swap over from my N5.

I know I shouldn't really, as it's not a huge upgrade, but it's just tempting me. The battery life in the Nexus is good, but there's been a few times where more would have been quite nice. Also I take quite a lot of photos, so the camera on the S5 (along with the slow motion) would be a welcome addition. But probably the biggest thing is the microSD. I get by with the 32 GB, but having the freedom to stick a 128 GB card it would be fantastic.

Anyone else made this swap, how are you finding it?

Well despite all my moaning about the s5. Sat here with my girlfriends in black, and i actually like the back. Looks infinitely better than the pictures (which are ugly as hell) and feels good too.

I still think the front is boring, but for anyone put off by the back, check out in the flesh first as its really quite nice.

Can somebody tell me if the home button wobbles like it does on the Note 3?

Doesnt seem to on the one here mate no.

Can someone recommend an sview style case thats not 45 quid please? Wanted to grab one for my g/f when i picked up her phone as i assumed they were like 20 quid, but 45 for a phone case? I dont think so.
