Every time a headset thread goes up there's the usual cry of "just get a clip on mic and a proper set of headphones" which I can totally understand, but I've typically stuck by headsets because equally people have warned that the Zalmann mic is a bit rubbish and afaik modmic's still aren't sold in the UK. Well I've managed to tear the cable on my QH85's and rather than get yet another headset I figured I'd just go back to using my HTF600's and XB500's but pick up a mic, but not really sure what to get?

£1.56 delivered direct from china

absolutely brilliant mic for the money, it's what I use.

my train of thought is I don't benefit what so ever from having a 10/10 mic, it's the people in the chat who hear the benefits.

i've had zero complaints and i recorded myself using it and it sounded crystal clear.

the only downside is it comes from china so long delivery time, if you need one tomorrow then order elsewhere.

the clip on it is fantastic, I clip it directly to my headphone wire rather than my t shirt

The DX mic and the Speedlink SPES. I can safely say the DX performs on a par with the SPES, is cheaper and is actually more durable.

cheers for the confirmation, I love my clip on mic, I have bought another mic which has a RRP of £20 second hand for £5 and it's awful in comparison.

really need to get rid of it and buy another DX as a backup

I'd quite like a V-Moda type affair, but from the research Ive done the ModMic is too short to be any use on my headset - ends up half-way round my cheek, nowhere near my mouth - and my HM5s are detachable on both cups so the V-Moda is a no go.
