Without a shadow, it was a bit iffy at launch but it's improved no-end and is one of the best games in the genre.

On your list, AOC and Tera aren't receiving regular content updates, Aion is dated and run by a terrible company. Lotro is dated, run by a terrible company and the developers have spent years developing inconvenience into the game so they can then sell you a convenience item and I would implore people not to support that kind of attitude from Turbine both now and going forwards. Neverwinter is apparently ludicrously easy and typifies the 'lobby MMO' mindset that is so wrong with the genre as a whole so I wouldn't recommend that game to you either, but maybe that's what you're into?

I did purchase GW2 on release so i do have a free download for that. I wasn't overly impressed by it at the time but I think I may give it another shot now. None of the ones I've mentioned really cried out to me and showed enough for me to waste my time downloading it.

To be totally honest I had forgotten about guild wars being free to play. Thanks for your help :)

The core gameplay is unchanged, but they've come to the realisation that their idea of 'the whole game was endgame' was a complete load of tosh and they've worked pretty hard to implement things for you to work towards over time but they've managed to keep the general feel of the game being drop-in, drop-out friendly. I enjoy it.
 
I really like Rift as a f2p mmo, it doesn't feel like you're missing much for not paying and theres loads of content.

Yeh I didn't mention Rift actually, I really, really enjoyed it pre-expansion but it completely went off the boil for me with the expansion and I havn't played it since.
 
If you aren't set on f2p ESO is a good shout, give me a bellow if you want a free try mate :)

Otherwise try dota2, not mmo but good f2p fun.

Gw2 is a good shout, no longer at myself but a good fun game.
 
Rift is probably the best F2P MMo out there atm. There are no restrictions on what you can do, what classes you can play or what content is available.

If you don't mind an initial outlay of say £20 then grab Guild Wars 2.

I would definitely recommended Marvel Heroes which is the best F2P aRPG, although it isn't technically an MMo theres no restrictions on content, you don't have to spend a penny and the community is second to none.
