Scifi Movie Suggestions?

Oh, didn't seem to make it very big, but I enjoyed Equilibrium.

Gun'k-Fu Action, not quite Sci-Fi, but a very good film nonetheless.

Gattaca and Moon would be my suggestion but that's mentioned.

Recently watched Snowpiercer, definitely a cult film to watch.

Just look on Wiki for a list of sci-films released by year and work through the ones that sound good.

Eden Log

OK, so this movie gets pretty bad reviews but honestly I can't see why. I think it's amazing. Give it a try.
Almost no dialogue in the entire film, just a guy waking up in a really dark and strange place then wondering about trying to find out what's going on and how to get out.

Equilibrium tag-line:
In a Fascist future where all forms of feeling are illegal, a man in charge of enforcing the law rises to overthrow the system.

How can you call that not sci-fi?

Futuristic setting, check!
Exploring the consequences of a social and/or scientific innovation, check!

In my mind, I put it on par with Terminator.
Action over Sci-Fi.

But you're right, it is Sci-Fi. Perhaps I should have rephraised better. Film is more of an action than Sci-Fi, but still great nonetheless.

Ah, I see the point you're making now.

For me, what Asimov said about Sci-Fi rings very true. Think of it as a setting, not a genre.
It's possible for Sci-Fi to be action, romance, political thriller, anything. Even detective drama (since he followed up his thought by writing the absolutely excellent Caves of Steel.) The important part is that it uses a futuristic setting to raise questions about our current level of existence.
