New Card Advice

First of all, I am no computer expert.

My video card broke last week and I need a new one. I will be upgrading to a full new system later in the year but for now i just need a card. I want the card to last 3 or 4 years.

Motherboard - GA-MA790XT-UD4P

The only card was like PCI Express 16

Im willing to spend up to £250ish but if theres a decent card for less then i would ofc get that instead.

Please help me ......... im an idiot.

Im not sure PSU name but its 850W

CPU is AMD Phenom ii x4 955 @ 3.61

My system is all in all old. But i want a Card than will allow me to play games now and allow me not to replace it when i get a new system.

I'd be worried about the psu first. Do you remember if it is a decent brand?

It will probably be bottlenecked by your current CPU but a 280 or if you can grab a deal 280x AMD card may fit the bill. you may need to grab a new psu so could be pushed to 280 and psu.

@skylineboy - I dont but it would have been decent as at the time it cost a lot. I know the CPU is bad but before my card crashed i was getting like 60FPS+ in the games i play. I had to buy a £20 card just so my PC would boot. The card i bought (i knew it would suck but at least i could get online) gives me 10FPS which is unplayable.

So even tho the CPU sucks it is capable of 60FPS for the MMos i play

Your CPU isn't bad at all. Graphics cards have moved on quite a bit since, the 955 was a great bang for buck CPU!!!

Just be aware that may hold performance back. In which case grab a 280 or 280x and enjoy your MMOs again
