Spec me a new Induction Hob.

Latest tech, not the best.

Gas is still superior.

It's windows 8 vs windows 7, the new one has some novelties, the old one is more practical and a serious tool for producing good work.

I actually prefer mine to gas, they are very similar but induction is able to heat stuff far faster than gas (boiling pan of water in 90 seconds vs 5 mins for gas)

Miles better than standard electric though.

I have this in our house. Amazing kit

Yeah had briefly looked at gaggenau but ruled them out as overall cost for everything will be massive, sadly I don't really have room for a hob that size either

Bit of a derail but I don't suppose you've any experience of the new miele steam-combi ovens? Did ask on another thread but for some reason that got moved to la cuisine and lost..

Blimey -- My mrs would be lost - she struggles to turn on PC.

Wait till that's been used a bit - won't look so shiny.

Looks impressive though.

I don't like it, not as much temperature control as gas, limits you on cookware too, plus you then need a wok burner as well.

I do have one, and Its installed but I have not moved into the house yet so have not tried it out. However everything I read says they are amazing.

I will report back in 4 weeks when we have moved in.

I love it but then I do a lot of baking - it's a nice gimmick but the same effect can be had with a tray of boiling water in the bottom of the oven.

Hmm, the same effect as a basic addition of steam, but no control over the steam, plus I wouldn't have thought the temperature control will be as accurate as it won't take into account humidity?

That what I have to find out, thanks.

Extended warranties  (yes I know) are pretty reasonable on induction hobs AND cover you for your missus dropping a saucepan on them ;)

Also Neff are giving away Saucepans at the mo

Had a Miele induction hob fail on me 3 times. Was replaced under warranty each time. Absolutely crap unfortunately. Especially compared to the gaggenau ovens.

Thanks you. Must look that up.

Sorry to be a pest guys but you all know more about this than me.
What do you think of this hob? NEFF T51D86X2 Induction Hob.
Plus, there is a free set of saucepans with it.

Thanks.

Induction is up there with gas. It is in a league of it's own compared to ceramic. Mine heats the pan very evenly and quickly. As soon as you turn it down it reacts instantly like you get with gas. It will heat a pan of water as quick as a kettle. Only had an issue with one pan. A magnet didn't stick to that pan.

Thank you delta0 :)
That one has a flex zone, would it be best to go for one without?

Thanks.

I assume by flex zone you mean one large area where you can put your pan anywhere on it? I don't have that on mine, but it is not a feature I miss.
