Aye, it's very nice and comfortable...I enjoy driving it...no muss and no fuss, which is exactly what I wanted from a car.

That strange stick thing in the middle of the centre console looks like it might give you fuss though, whats it for?!
Just the 2.0tdi (177)...it replaces a 05 RRS so performance wise it's what I'm used to. I went the other way, almost buying a Beemer before opting for the A6.

How are you finding the engine? I had the 177 in an old A4 Quattro and found it pleasant enough to drive, but utterly terrible on fuel. Perhaps it wasn't broken in, but low - mid 30's out of a modern diesel was too low for me to stand.

It's pretty lively actually, fuel economy is around the 45-50mpg on a mixture of town and medium runs...got 52mpg on a motorway run at the weekend...so it's pretty good for a car its size, and far better than what I'm used to in that regard. Put your foot down the engine responds very well, but the mpg suffers as a result.
The infotainment controls look quite interesting - do you find them intuitive? I've not used one of the vag multi button systems yet but it kinda looks like they've just moved the main buttons down to the gear stick (not really a bad thing imo).
I find the newer idrive with a few buttons nice enough to use, but it's bordering on having too many buttons to press when you could easily just use the rotary button to select like the old version

No i know that, I just mean it doesn't seem like there's a need for all the individual buttons really. It's still a big improvement, but they've almost gone too far and it looks like the audi version has even more in the way of individual buttons.
I just don't find them all that incredibly useful to be honest - not that I think there's a problem with them being there, just never found them anything particularly revolutionary over the old system.
In saying that, I haven't spent a huge amount of time in the newer cars so maybe it would be appreciated in an every day situation.
In any case - the reason I was asking is the Audi system looks a bit cluttered to me, but it's worth it if the system is intuitive I guess.

The great thing about the new button layout in the BMW is that once you learn the positions of each button, you can make changes with the press of one button, without taking your eyes off the road, rather than ripping through menus.
Changing from radio to USB, then flipping the screen back to nav only takes 2 button presses, for example, then the USB track to play can be selected from the steering wheel. I find it very useful, and not overcrowded at all. They only really have the most useful shortcuts there.

Its all very intuitive, I have found myself getting used to suing them almost without thinking. I was surprised that I find myself using them rather than the wheel buttons, even for volume control etc. Very simple and easy to use.
