Mercedes E class coupe/cab (Now Audi A5/S5 content)

I quite like the interior tbh.

I'm visiting a few places tomorrow to get some idea of what I like, unfortunately the BMW dealer in Watford is possibly the worst form of customer service I've encountered.

Mates just bought an E350 CDI coupe.

Lovely car, nice materials everywhere, great standard sound system, pretty quick but the whole thing is a non event. If you want a comfortable cruiser then it's great but if you're gonna ***** £30-£40k on a car then you'll want it to put a smile on your face, which the E Class doesn't.

Driving an E400 today, coincidentally. Don't like it. Ride's not very good in comfort or sport, lots of road noise, feels very dated, interior's not finished particularly nicely, curious driving position, uncomfortable bolsters, etc. Completely devoid of character or interest. Goes well enough, mind.

More on it later, once I've put some proper miles on it.

Thanks chaps. I've turned my attention to the Audi A5/S5 now.

Visiting my local dealer tomorrow to see what's what.

Thanks chaps. I've turned my attention to the Audi S5 now.

For similar money to the E400? Don't even consider it. It's the oldest car in it's class by miles, it came out 7 years ago. Good for 15k perhaps but no more than that. It's about to be replaced with a new model.

Not similar money no, however I'm not here to talk about money just yet.

I like the 4 series, particularly the 435 but after the service I've had in my local dealer I'm put off BMW at the mo.

It's kinda difficult to talk cars if you refuse to give us a budget, we end up guessing hence the assumption that you would spend E400 money on an S5.

That's a fair comment, I've seen S5's for sale for up to £30k. The vehicle would be financed with a deposit, however I'm interested to see what else is out there.

S5 Coupe is looking like a good bet but the price range seems to be huge.
Wasn't aware that a new one is on the horizon so might try and find out some more about that tomorrow, thanks.
Wasn't

If you want to spend about 15k consider the S5 but at 30k don't bother, it's a previous model 3 series rival really.

Doubt the dealer will have any info on the new model, they willtalk it down as they still sell the current one.

Thats because the facelifted car with the revised and improved engine isn't that old. The Sportback and cabro had the 3.0 v6 Supercharged engine from release but the coupe didn't get it until the facelift in 2012. Its a very good car, and still looks good both internally and externally. The sat-nav is a little dated, but not greatly and they also hang on to their value very very well.

I'd go and have a drive of one as its a fun car to drive and the engine and gearbox are great.

You can get 3.0T S4's - basically the same car - for under £20k. £10k more is a lot to pay for 2 less doors.

There are a few with high mileage for sub 20K but if you want the S-Tronic box your looking at at least mid 20s to get a half decent car with a semi decent spec.
