Motherboard killing graphics cards?

They said 3-5 days turnover for my RMA'd 290x. Its getting picked up today by Yodel. As I said before, Am using the 7750, Can't really open the box for the 290x if its getting picked up :(

Ok, report back here if you still have problems, we will do our best to help you figure this out :)

Sorry was working, Corsair AX 860W

I'm having issues with an MSI 290X Lightning. Bought last week, lasted 1 day before dying (black screen problems before it died).
RMA'd and the replacement arrived today. I ran it at stock and tested it in 3DMark, seemed fine until about 2 minutes after the test ended and I closed 3DMark. Then, black screen... Removed from PC and switched back to my 7850 to avoid killing a second 290X.

Different board to you, same PSU though... Makes me think my Corsair AX860 is the issue... :(

MSI is having issues with some 290's so it might not be your psu.

Maybe I should just ask for a refund then... :(

I was looking forward to this upgrade but the problems are getting on my nerves.

Edit: My replacement 290X appears to have been a return from someone else, I wonder if this is why they returned it... (I've already asked in Customer Support to see if it was a return).

How can you tell??

How can you tell??

Damage to the box, plastic covering from the fan surrounds removed (and put back in the box), PCIe connection cover loose in box.

I mentioned all of the above on my customer support thread but I was more interested in whether it worked or not... Which it seems it doesn't :(

Edit: Just to clarify, I don't mean the fan surround itself but the protective film that is on the surround which needs to be removed before installing the card.

I would have called them today but I get home from work around 6PM and the phone line closes at 5:30PM. If I don't have a reply to my customer support thread by 1PM tomorrow (lunch break) then I'll call. I've decided to ask for a refund now and look for an alternate card :(.

Shame the Easter weekend means posting it back will take longer. By the time I get home from work it will be too late for the parcel to be picked up from the post office which means delivery next Tuesday/Wednesday if I pay for next day delivery again...

Tell me about it, I was upset my 290x broke. Was looking so forward to it as well. But hopefully I get a real replacement or so we shall see.

Well Bailey seems to think my power supply may be the problem. I've ordered the Superflower 850W from today's daily deal so I can find out for sure. As soon as I know either way I'll post here. Easter weekend means I won't receive the PSU until Tuesday.

New PSU arrived just over an hour ago. So far it looks like it was my Corsair AX860 causing the problems. VRM temps are reporting accurately in GPU-Z and no black screens.

Still a bit too early to say 100% but I just figured I'd let you know.

So far so good :)
