i have an artifacting 7970 lightning again. this is the 2nd time now. this card is a completely different batch to the last 2 that ive had yet it has the same problem. i have seen multiple people with 7970 and 280x getting this problem and i think its probably the drivers. i have used 13.12 on all 3 cards with the same result. downloading the new beta drivers now to see if it fixs it. if it doesn't, its off on a auction site and im using the gtx670 again cos its the only damn thing that works.

has anyone else had this problem and fixed it?

Have you tried the other BIOS (assuming the lightning has dual-BIOS)?

Other than that, try downclocking the memory ever so slightly - not something you want to hear when you spend a lot of money on the premium card, but worth a try - artifacting usually occurs due to memory being clocked too high, in my experience anyway.

i'm trying the other bios now. i down clocked the memory on the other card and it was still artifacting really badly. i've seen quite a few sapphire toxic 280x owners have the same problem over the past few months as well.

I'm using 13.12 (7970), and although uncommon, I have had the odd artifact in a few select games. The symptoms consist of a flickering desktop, grey screens and as mentioned, artifacts. Unfortunately, atm I have doubts whether these annoyances would be easy to reliably recreate if I sent it back for rma, as most of the time she works with no issues. I've elected to wait to see if things get any worse, as there is plenty of time left under warranty. That is most likely the last time I buy a top end model with a suspiciously large slash in the price (matrix platinum).

On the very odd occasion i get artifacts but only with Battlefield 4, it also did it with my single 7970 and Battlefield 3... 280x + 7970 @1020 core 1500 mem 14.3 drivers.
