Any suggestions? Want to use the V-moda boompro but can't find many headphones with a standard 3.5mm replaceable cable that are also open backed. The Sennheiser 558's would be ideal but from what I've read even with an 2.5 to 3.5 adapter they don't work with the boompro. That sort of price range but preferably cheaper of course.

Sony MDR1R not open but a good price at the moment £104 and have a detachable cable

I am not sure there are good open backs with a detachable cable for around £100 I would have said beyer dynamic dt990 pro but the cable isn't detachable

Already got the MDR1R's... Really really tight soundstage in my experience (fine for music but pants for gaming) and the left speaker housing presses against my ear which is a real shame and has basically resulted in me not really using them.

Yeah I was looking at the DT990's as well but like you said, no detachable cable.

I could potentially stretch a little bit but if I'm stretching a lot I'd probably just get PC360's

There's a huge thread on head fi which has the answer to this question.

anyway fidelio X1 fit the bill, they aint cheap though.

Vmoda BoomPro Headphone Compatibility List:
This list will be updated and may be changed. Currently, this is only a list of headphones I know that are capable of being used with the Vmoda BoomPro, not a list of recommendations.

Beyerdynamic Custom One Pro
Focal Spirit Pro, Classic (need confirmation)
M-Audio Q40
Monster DNA On Ear, DNA Pro
MrSpeakers Mad Dog (single ended version)
NAD Viso HP50
Nuforce HP800
Philips Fidelio X1
Skullcandy Aviator
Vmoda LP2, M80, M100

IMO your better off just buying a clip on mic and using any headset you want.

You could buy the DT990 and get them modded for a detachable cable. I got quoted £20 for a 3.5mm.

In total if you get a used pair you will be looking at £150 total.

Other options

T50RP plus boom pro

I've got a Mad Dog for sale if you want it and I'd throw in my Boom pro?

Finding open with those requirements is difficult outside of the X1.

I've seen that thread multiple times but like you said there's nothing applicable in there. Was wondering if there was anything worth going with hence my asking.

Don't want to use a clip on mic as it picks up my mechanical keyboard too much versus one-directional mics.

If there's nothing in the c. £100 space worth getting, may well save up for the X1's ... Getting a little tired of buying and then wanting to replace in half a year's time at any rate.
