Just thinking back in a retro way and thought about the jobs I have had in my life and the worst job I have ever done was working in a sugar packing factory. Bags of sugar would come round and I had to put 16 in a box (I think) and then send the box down a conveyor and rpeat. The time expected was about a minute per box.

I lasted 2 weeks in that job and take my hat off to people who stick at this.

Temp dustbin man..2 weeks. Not a terrible job but worst as in having to almost be constantly walking jogging and being an unfit flump.

I got a lot of respect for them guys and girls now.

I worked at a place making Orangina in Manchester, my job was to watch the line to stand up any fallen bottles.

Or the tate and lyle factory on Trafford Park where I would pour bags of raw sugar into a hopper.

marquee erecting. it's too much like hard work. it near enough killed me and i only did it for a day. :p

i've done plenty of boring, repetitive factory work and it doesn't bother me in the slightest - so long as the people you work with are all right.

On a organic carrot farm during student summer holidays, had to lie on trailer moving at maybe 4mph and pick the weeds out. Didn't last long, maybe a couple of weeks.

Lasted 5h as a "Contracts Manager" for Wurth. A huge German parts company.

The job was sold as not a cold calling role, liasing with customers regarding orders. The actual job was calling customers who had cancelled their accounts and trying to hard sell them into setting up an account again.

3rd customer told me I was scum - went out for a smoke, didn't go back in. Horrible

Also helped a mate out in his restaurant once, did the pot wash for a night, my god that was hard/wet/hot work. Cash on hand as a favour so couldn't complain too loudly.

Worked on a flower bulb farm in Holland in winter. Standing on a back of a tractor trailer shaking clods of earth to seperate the flower bulbs into the towed crate in the freezing cold.

Working in a BHS restaurant. Only fun bit was being a KP and putting as much stuff down the plug hole as you could and then turning on the waste disposal. never managed to break it but the massive sink nearly broke free of its mountings a few times

I was the pot wash at a hotel when I was 14, and lasted for 2 weeks. I completely agree with you, unbelievably hot and continuous fast paced horrible work.

I think I got around £15 for doing 4 hours work :p
