Hi guys,

As the title says, i'm getting fed up with endless problems with the h80i, i'm on my 3rd one now and the latest issue is lack of fan control via link and an increase in cpu usage causes the fans to max out - temps are always fine (38 - mid 50s under load )- done the usual reset/firmware/software updates/different fans - enough is enough.

I use a 600t case / budget isn't a problem / doesnt need to look pretty or have flashing lights / needs to be quiet as I work from home quite often and can't have it sound like a helicopter is taking off next to me.

Thanks for your help.

can you not just connect the fans to the motherboard headers directly and use any fan control on the motherboard??

Also the Deepcool Lucifer for £30 was reviewed as good as a H75 cooler and only a tad louder under pressure and has the ability to mount a further 140mm fan to increase cooling :)

Thanks for the answers, I had it connected to the fan headers directly previously and found it to be unreliable, again spinning up with the tiniest bit of cpu usage.

The noctua looks good but out of stock, tempted to wait a week a grab a D15 - looks promising...

My 'go to' cooler at the moment is the Thermalright TRUE Spirit 140 Power. It is about £35.00 and cools as good as and quieter than NH-D14 SE2011. Sadly OcUK don't have any yet. :(

Change to a TY-143 fan and it's even better.

Alpenfohn K2 is very good £49.99

Beyond that there are all kinds of good cooler, Akasa Modusa, Cryorig R1 Ultimate, NH-D14, NH-U14S, Megahalems, PH-TC14PE, Silver Arrow SB-E and new Silver Arrow IB-E, Archon SB-E X2, HHT HE01, TRUE Spirit 140, etc.

In many ways it's which cooler you like more than which one is 'best.'

Thanks for the info Doyll, looks great and very useful - the ty-143 is cheap aswell - significantly cheaper than the d15 aswell - i'll see if they get any stock next week

Did you disable fan control in bios? I have a h100i and it works perfectly via the corsair link software where I have full control after disabling bios fan control in the bios.
Refere to your mobo manual and disable fan control by bios. The H80i is a really nice cooler as is the H100i but I have replaced the stock fans with the Corsair SP120's performance fans. Sorry to hear you're having problems dude. Have my 4770k @ 4.5Ghz and doesn't go over 60c with intensive cpu reliant games, idles around 24c

Just my 2 cents, but when I had the Noctua NH-D14 it was louder than my Antec 920 AIO cooler, even with the 7V reducers which really did surprise me, could have been something to do with the unique setup I had (Silverstone FT02B-W case) but I will now always use decent fans linked to a fan controller so you can easily adjust to your liking :)

Yep they are disabled. I do like the h80i when it works, for long periods its been excellent and corsair support has been outstanding.

Been offered the h105 so will take the exchange try to decide if I keep or go with the spirit 140 / dh15
