Hi all,

I have two build projects that I am looking to do. One of them is below.

I am in need of some advise. I am looking to build a PC with a £1600 budget to for system administration, programming and website design.

I won't be doing any gaming on this machine, so a top-end graphics card isn't required. However I do want to run 3 monitors. I do have 3 kinda old monitors at the moment, however it may be that I can possibly add £500 to the build to include monitors. I would ideally like to have monitors that can rotate to portrait. Not sure if OC stock any. Keyboard and mouse I have got.

I kind of got the idea of a good Intel i7 Haswell, 32GB RAM, good SSD, no operating system as it will be running a Linux distro.

Anyone care to help me spec up a machine? Any help would be appreciated! :)

Do you really need the K processor?

Are you expecting to program and system admin on an overclocked machine?

If not, then you can look at saving some money and going with the Xeon E3-1230v3 rather than the i7-4770K, and you probably don't need the Z87 board either.

That's not great, I still stand by my spec.

The board you've chosen is a waste of £200+. You won't cone close to using any of the features you pay the extra for.

The RAM I specced is cheaper and the same amount.

Don't scimp on the case or psu either.

No offense but my spec is better for your wallet and your needs in everyway. :).

Doomed is right.

Is there a particular program or need for 32gb of ram, or indeed for the high budget? Seems like unless I'm missing something that's a lot of cash for what amounts to light work.
