MONITOR = BenQ GL2450HM 24 inch Widescreen LED Multimedia Monitor (1920x1080, 2ms, VGA, DVI-D, HDMI)
HDD = 2 x Hitachi DeskStar 1TB Hard Drive SATAII 7200rpm 16MB Cache - OEM
DISC DRIVE = LG GH22NS40 22x DVD±RW DL & RAM SATA Optical Drive OEM - Black

What do you guys think? Any suggestions are appreciated.

You can certainly do better for £1500 gaming build. What is your university work?

You also need to remove the PC Part Picker list, as it links to competitors.

Doing a Masters and maybe a PhD in comp sci. Won't have anything really demanding on the work side really so would be geared more toward gaming.

4770k isn't necessary for gaming so I would drop it to a 4670k. As above a R9 290 would be a good choice of GPU.

It is the sexiest RAM money can buy, but it is expensive. The Kingston RAM is almost half price at the moment - an absolute bargain. You don't need more than 8gb for a gaming build.

I would seriously reccomend getting this monitor instead of the Iiyama ProLite GB2488HSU-B1 24" 144Hz.

YOUR BASKET
1 x BenQ XL2420Z 24" TRUE 144Hz 3D Vision 2.0 Widescreen LED Monitor - Black/Red /w Flicker FREE Technology £319.99

If you want 140hz, BenQ is the way to go.

I wouldent scrimp on the monitor, as you only get what you pay for (in my experience of buying monitors).

Yes, the BenQ is somewhat more expensive, but for the build quality and the actual performance the product delivers is fantastic as these monitors are used in a lot of competitive gaming as they have true 1ms/140hz response rates, and ofcourse BenQ have allowed for professional gamers to help design the monitor, so as they say 'created by gamers, made for gamers', cant really get anymore better then that I suppose.

Read some really, really good reviews.
