Just did a clean reinstall and was about to install Utorrent and just thought i would ask around to see what else people use, found Utorrent has grown bigger and more addy than it used to last time i stuck it on a pc..

thanks for advise.

don't judge me :D

I stuck with Bit Tornado (based on original BT client) for many years after it was not supported by author but it cannot do magnets and some of those online convertors do not work to convert magnet links to torrent links.

IMO uTorrent is best of a bad bunch so I use it on rare occasion I actually need a torrent.

Update to latest free Beta and look up the guide to edit the settings to kill all adverts and spam crap.

See you got 2 replies while I was slowing typing this lol.

deluge without a shadow of a doubt.

deluge server on my htpc and I can easily single click magnets onto it from anywhere..... desktop pcs, laptops, phones. Can also do this remotely too with a bit of hacking

utorrent 2.2.1

I had problems with the later versions causing a "disk overload 100%" error then everything ground to a halt

I use uTorrent's latest version but with a few tweaks to stop the advertising and stuff. I still keep the version before it went ad crazy on my PC just in case!

BitComet back in the day was as good as utorrent

It never was. It was a dodgy piece of software from the get-go. I remember it being banned from most private trackers for seed skewing.

One Q, is with Transmission on my router (Linux), I can somehow have that open in Windows and have it mirror it - or a webpage.

In Transmission open preferences and select remote tab. Setup a username and password there. Job done. Connect to it with localhost:9091 for localhost or via your ISP designated IP:9091 for remote access in a web browser.
