Yeah i posted this in the marathon should be banned thread, they guy is a douce and should be banned, he's run loads of other races as well

He's also using charity places which costs them as according to his just giving pages he isn't meeting the minimum sponsorship

I think he is a personal trainer, so he is probably using his 'success' at marathon running as a draw for customers. The organisers are supposedly looking into it.

Typical cheater type responses... "x makes it impossible to cheat!", "no one thinks I just did x"... (not to say he is cheating but those are typical response I see from people cheating in games, etc. time after time).

Who / what does it actually impact?

It is extremely hard to get into the London marathon due to lack of spaces.
It also appears he uses charity spaces but hasn't raised any money for years, costing the charity money.

It's a big slap in the face to everyone who has run it and for everyone who failed to secure a place.

Hopefully lifetime ban and some shaming articles incoming.

Not sure why you would do it, but then again he looks like a poser all about looks and no substance.

I thought everyone that participates raises some money for charity?

Edit: or is it only the top 20% or something

Maybe he's getting the majority of his sponsorship away from just giving?

I've done plenty of fundraising during the last few years and probably 20% max of my sponsorship comes via just giving, so if I didn't add the 'offline' total it would look as though I had raised hardly anything.

It's made a few papers including front page of the Sun.

Some good detective work in that RW thread. Seems he wasn't the only one with similar missing chip times to then go on and run a crazy negative overall split for the second half. Best one is a 70 year old guy running an inspired 1.14 second half which would probably be a record for his age.

No different to the member who started the 'guide to running' thread making similar ludicrous claims - I never found any of his claimed results in the official listings ;)
