Why did you sell it now? Only to get another 780?
I sold it when I grabbed a 290 but did not get on with that so went back to a 780 as I got a decent deal.
I'm always changing...

@ 1080/60Hz I couldn't tell the difference between 1 780 and sli 780's 
so I sold the better clocker (Inno3d) and kept the nicer card (Lightning)

I find a single 780 fine at 1440p but I don't watch fps counters. As long as its smooth I'm happy.

@ 1080/60Hz I couldn't tell the difference between 1 780 and sli 780's
If Vsync is on it'll sticks at 60fps and doesn't go any higher. Turn it off and it'll sky rocket!
I can tell a big difference to 1 780 and 2 780's in SLI.
Depends if you feel your games are lacking. A 680 is still a great card.
