Okay so my friend wants to upgrade his computer after i mentioned ive upgraded mine. These are his specs iirk-

Amd 6350
Corsair 500w builder series
Gigabyte 970a -ds3p (i think not to sure)
7870
1tb hdd

Hes mentioned about getting a nvidia card instead of sticking with amd he wants to max out Battlefield, Cod, crysis 3 (if possible) and a few other games.

Ive noticed this card that is currently on offer isit worth the money? Or do you reccomend something else?http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-184-GW&tool=3

Thanks

780 not in budget - will max out those games at 1920x1080 with fluid framerates.

EDIT: Might have mis-read if hes sticking with that CPU probably not worth putting a 780 in there.

Sorry completely forgot to mention a budget hes got around £250 for a card as ive told him get a ssd as he keeps moaning about loadtimes in BF

Any particular reason why nvidia? Considering the CPU and that he plays BF4, he would benefit from mantle a fair bit.

The PSU has about 400w on the 12v rail. Would have recommended a 280x but i would say that you are cutting it close to the 400w mark if the CPU is overclocked. You might find that it runs fine most of the time but the OCP would kick in when the power peaks.

If he plays BF4 on that CPU he's better off going AMD for Mantle or he will get bottlenecks with it.

No matter what he's doing, he has other area's he needs to upgrade too.

I'd tell him to upgrade CPU/Motherboard, and then get a GPU/PSU later down the line.

Right :) and by the looks of it he already has a 7870, i'm not sure a GTX 760 is a worthwhile upgrade.

7870 vs 760? Pssh, side grade at best. With a budget of £250, the only way he has a chance of 'maxing' out the games listed is in the second hand market, that's being a 290 or 780. More so the 290 because of Mantle which will help the obvious CPU bottleneck he'll get lol (also....that PSU, not the best and with a 250-300w card, will hurt ;) :p)

CPU + mobo first wouldnt require a new PSU yet. 280x or better is sketchy territory for the current PSU, and anything worse than a 280x is not worth upgrading.

I would start off by grabbing a 2500k + mobo in second hand markets.

Poor suggestion...might as well have kept what he has, he'll be dropping £200+ for 2 extra threads that might not be used and still cause a bottleneck with a 290/780 lol, might as well overclock the 6350. Your choice of the 990FX Sabertooth is also overkill imho (waste of money even ;)) Cheaper board that offers basically the same thing: Here

Your suggestion:
