Time for a laugh - First Car £12k+ - Age 28 - Coupe

to be fair, there aren't that many cars that meet all of the criteria - my suggestion would be a mk2 TT with the tdi… might need to stretch the budget a wee bit to get something with reasonable miles tho (have seen a few 09-10 plates around the 12k but usually 80-90k on them….)

Dismissed Porches in the OP :p

I always thought of the TT as a girly car but had seen a few newer models which look much better. Same with the Z4 the newer ones look much more aggressive.

This is screaming out for for the exact opposite of a Boxster or Mustang. You want a flashy looking coupe with enough poke to not be out done by the local yobs in their 1.4 Corsas.

Basically something like a VW Scirocco, BMW 120i/320i Coupe or an Audi TT.

Completely avoid anything like a Boxster, 350Z, Honda S2000 and any other standard OcUK favourite because you simply do not want to spend the extra money running a quick car.

The Scirocco, BMW or TT in standard petrol form (all with roughly 150bhp) are perfect for what they are designed for.

They are a brand new iPhone or a nice new Superdry jacket and that's exactly what you want - looks good, functional, flashy, and reasonable well built.

I love the newer model TT, the S-line had a facelift in around 2010 I think, front end looks a lot nicer with xenons and TTS style body kit.

You shouldn't need to worry about the warranty on a 125i coupe - buy approved used and you'll have a years worth of "piece of mine" should you be particularly concerned.

That or the scirocco would be where I'd put £12k in your kind of position

Forgot about that, a Hyundai would have the balance of the 5 year unlimited milage warranty (subject to the usually conditions). So a 2013 would have lots of warranty.
That's all I am going to say about them, I am not a big fan tbf, but it ticks a lot of the OP's boxes.

That Hyundai looks like a hatchback to me! Not heard of it before but think I will stick to the BMW's, Audi's and other recommendations. Any reason people are suggesting the TT over a Z4?

The TT comes with a nice turbocharged 2l petrol engine and has 4 seats. The BMW is seen as a slightly more 'hardcore' approach and the best engine in the range is the 6 cylinder 3.0l engine.

The TT has also been around longer and a new one is due out very shortly so you might be able to find a bargain.

I see, thank you. Am looking at about 15k for a TT '10 with under 50k. I understand you get one year warranty from most used approved dealers but would like it to be longer as I don't fancy it all going wrong in the second year and having to fork out. Would like peace of mind for a few years at least.
