Hi

I have an issue that i only have noticed recently (why the ''boss'' has not...) while doing a proper spring clean.

In the one corner of the front room i can see my skirting in damp and wet. It has tiny cracks in it and the paint peels off. The carper right in the corner is also slightly wet and does not seem to dry out. I cannot see any issue outside ie rising damp etc and it only in this 1 corner. Lifting the paint shows tiny mould spots.

I tried to lift the carpet in the corner to have a look but its glued.

The wall is the cavity wall between the kitchen and front room. On the other side of the wall is kitchen cupboards and the rest of the walls in the room is fine!

Any idea at what could cause this?

nope and i just removed the kick boards and had a look to see if i can see similar and bar the fact i can see the insulation from the partition wall it all looks dry with lots of dead wood louse.

Im going to try run a fan at that location, i do have two children and can remember a drink being spilt around 3 feel away that was cleaned up but no idea how much was recovered. I cannot feel any underlay (and if it does its very thin) and could have moved down to the corner of the room but for the amount of liquid and for the actual skirting to crack and go slightly mouldy?

I bet your cavity wall is full of crap/cement droppings from when they built the house. If your cavity is full it can cause internal damp. Punch a hole through in to the cavity and see. Maybe it's a case of your dpc broken down which would involve hacking the plaster off and injecting dpc cream.
