Horsham Italia today.

My old Alfa 156 2.5 V6 held its own with a strict criteria on which cars could enter the town centre from the parade. It was the only 156 saloon and probably the cheapest car to make it but got some lovely feedback.

The V6 sung beautifully, although nowhere as nice as the Ferrari and Lambo's but still attracted a great deal of interest.

Great day for car lovers.

They really were on some kind of drugs when they designed the 156 weren't they?

Iirc the 156 was the first car to hide its rear door handles to make it look more like a 3 door. Been copied many times since. The 156 was a beaut when it first come out. Please remember this is a time when the vectra b and mk2 mondeo were doing the rounds.
 
Gorgeous car and still has so much presence on the roads today. Needless to say I Absolutely love it. However will you go sort those wheels out please whether they're just dirty or need re-furb go do it! Thanks :p

I'm sorry but where are you trying to go with this? Some (quite clearly deluded) sales exec at seat thinks the door handles damaged sales so therefore it's a crud idea or not necessarily a good one? Pleeeeassseee! The previous gen Leon's appeal was held back as it had a complete disaster of an interior and quite frankly didn't really have a role in the line up next to the golf and the octavia which between them had it beat everywhere leaving it redundant. Pretty sure those they did sell was on the back of sportier image afforded by the handles amongst many other things. They're a good idea, were copied and are still being copied for that very effect of masking the doors.
 
Yeah your 100% right with the alloys they are totally minging. Providing it gets it's next MOT (sept) without too many problems that is first on the list.

In all honesty I didn't think it was going to be included as the event was mainly for classics and super cars. I was kind of caught out when they handed me an official sticker at the meeting point and told me to join the parade.

It was the only 156 V6 there.

yes, the front bumper is a bit bubba gump, but the rest of it is gorgeous.

The facelift is even better, though not released until 2003 to be fair:

He has an irrational love for Audi, I wouldn't think too much about it (though obviously everyone is entitled to their own views!) - comments are particularly confusing when you look at a late 90's A4, which would have been another equivalent.

Tbh you've picked the base models to compare to. A base 1.6/1.8ts 156 with hub caps and cloth seats is as well not very attractive.

I love alfas, my 147 was fantastic and regardless of handling, speed and reliability they stir something odd inside you. Probably the naughty child.

However the only reason I bought mine was at the time the import market was huge and my 16k 147 was mine for 11k. I had it for 100k and 5 years then sold it for 3.5k.

For £600 a well specified 156 could be worth shoving in a barn.

Great looking cars, certainly the best of the era. You got it for £600? Gosh, was it in an absolute state or is there just very little market for them? :o

No it was pretty much in the condition it is in now. The only thing I have done is front/rear pads and had to have a water pipe replaced.

It belonged to a business lady who had had it since it was 18 months old. It has covered 135k now but has full history and receipts for literally thousands.

She had just purchased a new Gulietta and thought it was a fair price for 12 year old car.

I can't really imagine them being worth much more however as it is just a 156. I think I was fairly lucky to get one so well maintained.
