David Moyes disgracefully sacked

10mill payout and wasted money on Fellani is a big peice for a fall guy.

Not really for a club the size of manyoo.

Moyes was probably relatively cheap in terms of manager salaries, and Fellaini didn't become worthless overnight. Money has definitely been wasted but it isn't going to harm the club at all financially and it makes the job much less of a poisoned chalice for the next manager.

Fellaini didn't become worthless overnight, he was always with 5-10mil and when Moyes spent 17million at least more than he was worth they wasted that money. Fellaini was NEVER a good player, he was average at best and like every player from worst to best, he had a couple great games, no more, no less.

As for Moyes, he was clearly on 4.5mil a year, which IS a big salary for a manager and 37mil(minimum) is a big amount regardless of the club.

You were never getting Villa and Willian to Chelsea was a no brainer as soon as they came in for him.

A no brainer for what reason.. CL footy?

Probably not villa..(who knows) and willian got as far as the medical room... and that's my point. Had we been a CL club we would have stood a better chance..and certainly one of holding on to some of the layers we've had leave over the past.. lured by the CL.

Players are lured to a football club, not whether they are in the CL or not, people are underestimating playing for Manchester United.

You really believe that? Interesting concept. There's no doubt the name of Manchester United is a lure in itself, but a players career is short and the lure is too big. Do you really think the likes of Rooney and VP are going to hang around? Evra out of contract, Vidic going anyway.. Ferdinand finished, Giggs too old.. That's some players that need to be brought in.

Reality of finishing as a mid-table club bites i'm afraid :p

Yeah...and they still sacked him.

Because he's proven that he doesn't have what it takes to manage a club where the expectation is that you win every single game, or die trying.

He just shrugged defeats off like they were nothing, it made my blood boil. The Glazers could obviously see this, so got rid. He wasn't going to suddenly change. Even with a few more world class players I wouldn't have been confident of him winning anything, or even getting top four.

Just in the same way that one season of top-four finishes doesn't make you a top team, one year of finishing outside them doesn't stop you being one either.

It'll take a few years before anyone can seriously call Man Utd a "mid table team".

We can delight in doing it now, whether you agree or not is irrelevant :D

You should also be happy with that, because Moyes is gone and now Things Can Only Get Better™ ;)

You're free to do what you want, but with it being unsubstantiated it just come across as bitterness in the first degree. ;)

As a Leeds fan, do you just keep that song on repeat? :p

Willian went for the money, CL football was an added bonus, Chelsea swooped in and offered him more, probably offset against the cash they saved flying him over.

Rooney has just signed a 5 year contract, RvP will be going nowhere if Van Gaal gets the job, the problem with RVP and a lot of players this season is the fact they didn't think much of Moyes or his methods.

The older players, that's not something that's new, we have been going on about this for 12 months.

Wasn't it reported that Ancelotti turned down Manyoo before Moyes was offered the job? I can't see Real getting rid of him in the summer, or him agitating for a move, anyway.

TBH, AVB could work, not that it'll happen. He's gone to Zenit and got them winning straight away. He's obviously one for the future, but meh.

Guardiola could be interesting. I really don't think it'll happen, but I suppose there's a SLIM possibility if he wins everything with Bayern... perhaps he wants to be like Mourinho and win stuff in multiple leagues... but, like I say, I don't think it'll happen.

I guess I'd put my money on van Gaal - perhaps there's a deal to be done whereby he combines the two roles, at the end of the season, until after the World Cup (in a very limited capacity, so as to help the club identify the targets he wants, etc).

AVB is a non-starter after failing at 2 other Premier League clubs. The Utd board would need to be off the scale mental to even consider him!
