David Moyes disgracefully sacked

The Forbes list as of 2nd March 2014: (so the latest figures rather than the year old ones quoted in the BBC article, which also states United's lower position as temporary)

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Forbes'_list_of_the_most_valuable_football_clubs

Bayern in 5th as opposed to United's 2nd and historically United are clearly the larger club financially.

Besides that still doesn't address the actual reasons why Guardiola may consider his options, as he did at Barcelona.

Think best thing for Giggs would be to be an experienced managers right hand man for a few seasons (Van Gaal would fit the job really) then when they retire he's ready to take over..

If as it reported and hinted at all the time Giggs was the player undermining the manager because he didn't agree with his tactics and whipping up support and dissent that spread through the team then Giggs is not the right person to have as LVG no 2.

What if he doesn't like his methods?

Giggs probably has spent too long with one manager and too long as the golden boy under that manager. The best thing for giggs is probably to go and work as no2 somewhere else first.

Moyes had to go fair enough but some of those experienced players as Linekar said have been really unprofessional. They shouldn't then be made a no2 or manager.

From what I heard earlier, Giggs questioned spending so much time practising defending drills and explained that United are all about attack and was told to step back.

Yeah I wouldn't call it undermining, I'd call it trying to save Moyes job.

If someone is doing something stupid, you're failing completely as a person and as a whatever Giggs was behind the scenes(coach/advisor), if you say nothing.

His job is to advise Moyes, Moyes was failing with the team clearly unhappy from pretty early in the season, Giggs telling him to play more offensively is simply good advice not undermining him.

Moyes failing to heed solid advice and continuing with what you could only call incredibly negative tactics which were clearly dragging the whole team down is his failure and his alone. Multiple people basically highlighted what he was doing wrong, from everywhere, papers, pundits, commentators, players, Giggs, Fergie probably.

I agree with this point re Giggs. Certainly as a footballer nobody could possibly question his credentials, but as a man? Certainly from the stories about his personal life, he is not a man you could ever possibly put your 100% trust in.

Maybe that is wrong to judge his ability to remain professional based on stories and allegations that came to light regarding his personal life, but if there is any truth regarding rumours of undermining the previous manager, then it really suggests he is not a trustworthy character and not someone most elite level managers would want around. I stress, IF the rumours are true.

Why are so many obsessed in thinking it'll be Klopp when he said he's happy where he is and is tied until 2018…

I do not think it will be Klopp, I would like it to be....I expect it to be Van Gaal or a bit left of field, Mourinho...but Van Gaal has to be the realistic choice.

This is a fair point and it may just have been a case of trying to offer advice as opposed to undermining. However, there can be a fine line and the advice should be offered behind closed doors and not in front of the squad and other backroom staff, otherwise it could quickly be construed as undermining. Neither I, nor you were there, so difficult to say.

Gimp now he is gone and since you refrained from voting/saying did you want him gone ~January? (The correct answer is yes)

I was prepared to give him time, I don't think the players are blameless in this seasons fiasco but he wasn't my choice from the start.

I refrained from posting in the thread because it was full of idiots, like most of this forum lately :)

Well now its all done don't you think it was pretty obvious the football was not improving and very unlikely to do so with uninspiring purchases (like Mata is great and all but pretty unnecessary for your team).

Also it isn't like he worked under a hostile atmosphere, your home fans were better than they've been for years and as much as I despise your away lot they were pretty good and behind him for ages and always the team.

Job was a poisoned chalice but he did pretty much as crap as you could do bar going out in Europe at group stages which would've been some effort given the group

Yes and that's fair enough, making suggestions of course it is. Undermining the manager though and rallying the troops behind his back is not.

And watching DVD's of Jagielka. :D

And to be fair Jags is better than any of the United back four. Obviously Ferdinand thought he was at a point in his career where he had nothing to learn from a younger player.
