Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster

Is this game worth getting? FF10 was the only one i actually liked. I loved Blitzball. I'm not sure if playing it again will ruin my memory's lol. Have they done a good job on it?

If you enjoyed FFX back on the PS2 then its worth grabbing and playing through x/x-2, though I was sceptical at first but the graphical and remastered sound changes do freshen the game up.

Also there is extra content which I haven't seen before, and trophies to unlock if your into that sort of thing.

Haven't tried X-2 yet, it did look good back on the PS2, anyone confirm what the changes are like for it?

Yes, definitely.
The games story is still really good and holds up well.
The graphics are fairly decent as well. The main problems with the game are the same as they were back on the PS2 (stupid mini games)

I've maxed out Strength, Magic, Defense, Magic Def, Agility, and Evasion for Tidus, Yuna and Rikku.
Going to get everyone to max of all of them now via Tonberry King method.

Still need to Lulu and Kimarhis ultimate weapon :(

Oh and here's a stupid thing I did.
I wanted to bribe the Machea in Omega Ruins so spent ages trying to fight them with no luck, it was always other enemies.
Anyway turns out you can just fight and bribe them in the monster arena :(

Such an idiot

I'm struggling to find a sphere grid strategy on the net. What is the best way to go about getting all the characters through it?

I've got to the end of everyones individual bit. I've teleported Tidus to Aurons grid, Auron is naturally onto Tidus' and Wakka onto Aurons. Yuna is making her way to Lulus. Rikku is also onto Lulus. I've done half of Rikkus with Kimarhri and he's now onto Aurons. I don't really know what to do with Lulu at the moment. I want to take her to Yunas for the magic boost stuff but it's a long way, should I use a teleport sphere (I only have 3-4) to take her there or just slowly make her to work her way there?

Ultimately I'm planning on maxing out the grid with all of them (although I may give up on it at some point). What is the best way of going about this? How should I go about activating empty nodes (obtaining str and mag spheres etc, also at what point should I start activating the empty nodes, I haven't activated any yet)? Also, where can I obtain fortune spheres?

I'm going to use the Tonberry technique for obtaining sphere levels when I can (I'm a way off that though I think.

Currently working through the Monster Arena (I've completed 4 areas so far).

I could never find a Tonberry, soooo rare :(

what's the Tonberry king method out of interest?
Tonberrys are common, you just need to go to the right spot. Without going there myself it's hard to explain but if you go in the stolen faith cave, there is a point where you can either head left or right. Head right and you should get to a dead end with a chest in it. There's a point at the back of this dead end where you will be off the minimap, in this area here you will have a much higher probability of finding Tonberrys.

The Don tonberry trick is where you have one characters overdrive mode set to stoic, preferably one with the most kills, have the other 2 party members set to comrade. Equip all members with overdrive>AP ability and triple overdrive(I think) weapons. Then continually attack the tonberry with the character with the stoic overdrive mode. He will kill them, hopefully doing 50k+ damage. Continually res this character and attack the tonberry, when the tonberry has taken 4 steps forward he will no longer counter with karma, at this point run away, you should gain at least 20 sphere levels everytime you do this.

Sorry if there are any typos, this message was written with my phone and I can be bothered to check over it

I clearly did not play this originally back on the PS2 properly.

I never get any time to play this game so I am still pushing through the story and only just got to the airship after Home get's destroyed. I feel like miles behind you guys.

Unlock the One-Eye from the Monster Arena, for this you need to capture 5 of every Floating Eye monsters. Use a guide to find out where they are.

Keep fighting One Eye till you get weapons with Triple AP for everyone.

Customise the weapon to get Overdrive to AP as well.

This bit is optional but can speed up the process, customise to get Triple Overdrive as well

Then unlock the Tonberry King in the monster arena.

In your team of three have two people, preferably the people who have killed the most fiends throughout the journey, in my case it was Tidus and Wakka, change their overdrive to Stoic and change the third person to Ally* (so that they receive overdrive when their Ally has been hurt).

Everytime you attack Tonberry King he'll counter with Karma, and the people who killed the most enemies throughout the game will get higher damage dealt to them. For me Tidus gets hit for 99999 each time.

So he gets hit for that Yuna will get 99999 x 3 = 299997 x 3 = 899991 everytime he's hit.
You'll basically get 99 spheres each battle, and the other two characters will get around 50.

You can polish of the sphere grid with ease this way. After you've maxed it all out, then start filling in empty nodes

Thanks for that, Deep. That's how I plan on maxing.

How rare are teleport and return spheres? Should I just take the long route to get my characters where I want them to be or is it okay to waste the spheres?

I've never used a single teleport or return sphere.
When you're going to start adding nodes get everyone to start from the same node and work around the same way.

When you go back on yourself it doesn't require as many sphere moves. I think for every one move you can do 3 back I think

I've gone back on myself many a time. If you feel you have to use a return sphere, I would only consider using one if you need to blow 10+ sphere levels to get where you want to be, but it's all down to personal preference. They're not too easy to come across during the game but you can bribe a dark element to get 3 for 36,000.

As for what the best way to go about upgrading the sphere grid, it's up to you if you want to do something similar to when Deep did or you can just concentrate on 3 characters until you have everything set up correctly, then run through the sphere grid with +4 stats on every spot. You WILL have to go back on yourself sooner or later as you will want to clear out all of the +1/2/3 stat spheres

Found 6 tonberrys in 30 mins got bored and played Arma 3 :(

Saw a lot of monsters I never expected to see in that out of map area.

With the Nodes, i'm gonna fill them the majority of them with Luck spheres.

Max out strength and defence first

I fought Yojimbo yesterday, it was quite difficult but I beat him 2 times.
Even though I have 255 accuracy I still couldn't hit him, so I used Aim like 20 times and then managed to connect every blow.

The match went a bit like this

Aim x 5-6
Summon Valefor
Valefor dies
Aim x 5-6
Summon Ifrit
Ifrit dies
Aim x 5-6
Summon Ixion
Ixion dies
Aim x 5-6
Summon Shiva
Shiva Dies
Then just start quick attacking him doing 99999 damage each time, I think I had Bahumat die as well as he had a turn coming up.
But Anima and the Magus Sisters definitely survived.

Quite annoying but it's doable.
I got 2 dark matters and I think 10 Master spheres :D!

I've caught everything x10 for the monster arena in all areas up to calm lands so far. As I used catcher weapons for the rest of the game from that point hopefully it won't take too long to catch the rest (although it's always that 1 fiend that gives you trouble).

My plan is to catch everything in the remaining areas, excluding sin/omega, then play Blitz for Wakka's overdrives/celestial weapon (I have everyone else's fully powered) then catch everything inside sin/defeat sin (I haven't actually completed the game yet, I've never seen the ending, haha). Then I'll catch everything in Omega/level up. It's then just going to be the super long grind to max everyone so I can take on the dark aeons etc.

I haven't been this addicted to a game in a long time!

For X-2 I think I'm just going to run through the story rather than trying to 100% because I've heard it's not that great.

Just got to the first Blitz match, and remembered what it was I hated about this game. As side games go this imo amongst the worst, along with raising chocobo's in VII, and the card games in VIII and IX.

Blitzball is easy and quite enjoyable once you know how.

When you said you beat Yojimbo twice, i'm assuming you mean you reset the game and fought him again because you didn't get the drops you wanted?
