What would be you ultimate monitor?

Ratio: 21:9
Resolution: 3440 by 1440
Size: 34"
Refresh: 120hz (is it possible on these kind of screens?)

To me this is the perfect mix of resolution and ratio to deliver awesome quality which doesn't require an insane amount of grunt. The option to go up to 120hz would be nice but i have never seen a 120hz 21:9 monitor before. If it could go 120hz, this would be the ultimate fps monitor for todays GPU grunt imo. I also feel that the 34" models of 21:9 monitors have the perfect amount of height, unlike the older 29" ones which seemed too short for my liking.

For me it would be, if you took that 4k 24" dell and increase the size from 24" to 36" keeping the pixel density (so just increase it by 50%), this would then give a triple 1080p screen at 5760 x 3240. If you then made it 21:9 you would end up with a 7680 x 3240 screen, make it 12 bit and 120hz and then have the ultimate (technically) possible monitor. A 21:9 8k monitor at 44.8" with an effective size of 47.25" when comparing it to a 16:9 monitor playing 21:9 material.

In theory DisplayPort 1.2 can do 74hz at 4k with 10 bit colour with 1.3 being able to do 139hz, but I would imagine there would also be some control information.

Also, what is a VA panel?

This with a VA panel and G-Sync, ummmmm

30",IPS or better colour reproduction, CRT type response times, pixel density of the samsung galaxy s5 screen (i dont want to imagine the actual resolution the screen will be) and 16:9 ratio will be good

+1 for this by todays hardware but for future 144hz and full 4k would be awesome if it could be powered by less than quad SLI

27" 120hz 1440p VA panel with g-sync

Sounds like my cup of tea :) support for free-sync would be good and a flicker-free backlight too, light AG coating. Of course, low input lag & fast pixel response times with good colour reproduction are necessary too....

obviously good looking, slim bezels, nice adjustable stand, that kinda stuff as well but it kinda goes without saying.

Keep the low-contrast IPS rubbish away :p

Edit: 4k would be nice and all, but not until more software, webpages etc deal well with high pixel densities.
