290x or 780ti - First world problems

Be nice from a update on the 780/290 Failure rate since 290's were quite new then
i'd imagine with so many sold for mining there should have been enough sold to compare numberwise with 780's now

Haha - I love hearing peoples opinions. I have to admit I was going to go AMD as ive had my 5870 a long long time and been very happy with it (when it wast so old and behind the times). Though this is definately something to consider very seriously what with the other comments above. Hmm god.

What makes you say amd have lost direction?

Don't listen to people with Brand Loyalties, you had might as well flush your money down the Toilet.

Nvidia or AMD they are as good as each-other, unless you specifically want Nvidia or AMD just go for the one that costs less money.

But that's assuming that the person buying doesn't value any of the additional things nVidia bring. When you buy a graphics card there's more to consider than price. Price should be considered but not in isolation.

lol @ brand loyalties comment. Pot kettle anyone?

Not arguing as I don't care that people have brand loyalties but let's not pretend you don't either.

In terms of power for sure but specifics is another thing. If somebody wanted TrueAudio, I wouldn't tell them to buy nVidia and if somebody wanted PhysX, I wouldn't tell them buy AMD.

Saying "unless you specifically want AMD or nVidia" is a little vague but pointing out the pluses (or minuses) of each helps making purchasing decisions.

I said there is no reason to get one brand over the other unless you specifically want to, both brands bring different specific features to the table.

We are saying the same thing. ;)

@ Rusty, no, there is no point in arguing, you said the same thing i did.

Just a heads-up, Gibbo stated the other day that the 6GB 780 will be coming out mid-may (coinciding nicely with OcUK's 4K monitors being in stock) so if you play at ultra high resolution (or are planning to) then that could be a consideration.

I have had 4 290s since December - 2x 290x and 2x 290 non X.

NOTHING BUT PROBLEMS!!!!

I had a 780 Ti aswell in that time and it was the only card that NEVER caused me problems.

I am in the process of an RMA right now which will hopefully get me credit so I can go back to a 780 Ti.

Sick of the 290 range.

Absolute suck.

Its a shame we have never seen you around here asking for help with your apparent problems.

Usually its nothing to do with the card, but something else in the system, the fact that you had 4 go wrong suggests thats the case, uless OcUK sent you 4 dud cards.

In which case you should be sure to get your Money back :)

Are you kidding me?! :mad::mad:

My threads have been on this part of the forum constantly the past 4 months.

My recent one is like 5 plus pages long and before that I had another!

I will bump it and you can see.

It is not the system it never was.

All parts were replaced and or tested and deemed fit for service!

The cards were the only things that were the issue they were in use.

Sure, link me to it i would like to see that ^^^^ :)

Ive had 1 290p and 2 290xs so far, i got all to do 1300 on the core and ive got no issues. Coincidence? Hmmm.

I think having 4 apparently go wrong is no coincidence.

I have yet to see one with a problem myself.

Then go on and buy a 770 or whatever
