Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [25th April - 29th April 2014]

:D

This couldn't happen to a nicer bloke. Even though liverpools play has somewhat won me over this season, still hate Steevie

Thing is it still goes back to squad depth for me, Chelsea when playing that way, we needed some one to offer us something different and we didn't, though game probably needed a wonder goal from us. Regardless of title or not we have done better than expected this year and hopefully with quality players with good experience signed in the summer windows we should do well again next year.

Aspas was your game changer sub and that goes to show the lack in depth squad wise. It's mad how well they have done with the team.

Negative football?

Why do you say that?
We've beaten all the best teams this season and some by a fair margin, away from home we've been cautious when needed but at home we've played some great stuff.
If (when) Chelsea don't win it you could say that it's due to the negative football played by the likes of Wham, Crystal Pulis, Sunderland, Villa etc. we had over 100 attempts on goal v those 4 alone and didn't score enough to get all 3 points. That is largely due to our players of course but also down to the mass defending of other teams.
Of the football I've watched this season - which is probably less than yourselves - Chelsea have always been dull, uninspiring, and almost wholly defensive. I'd call that negative.

Bear in mind that I'm approaching it not as someone that wants one team to win at all costs, but as someone who wants to watch a good and entertaining game of football. So take today, for me; Liverpool were poor, Chelsea were boring.

Fair enough, did you not see Chelsea beat Arsenal, Spurs, Man. C., Liverpool & Man. U. at home then?
They were not world beaters by any stretch of the imagination but negative, dull, uninspiring & almost wholly defensive aren't terms anyone could level at them in those games.

What has he done wrong? Apart from one brawl i don't remember him doing much wrong

A lot seem to have an irrational hatred for him, I have no idea why. He's the last of his kind in terms of English box to box players, and he's a legendary PL player. I have no reason to dislike him, always been great to watch. It will be a shame when he packs it in.

Thats it, punched one guy while drunk and being an idiot. Where as you have people nearly having decade long affairs with brothers wives people don't really give a **** about

Gilly's irrational hatred of Gerrard goes back way before that. He can't accept that Gerrard's better than Lampard.

Yep. If we ultimately don't win the League then I'll be disappointed because of how close we got but when you step back and look at things, what we've achieved this season is nothing short of remarkable.

The difference between our squad and Chelsea & City's is night and day. I know a lot of people have jumped on the 'no Europe' bandwagon yet it's funny how none of them predicted we'd be where we are at the start of the season.

Be very surprised if Liverpool hang on to Suarez again. Madrid knock on the door as expected I don't even think the title would keep him. It would be a going away present to the fans.

If he goes then he goes. We'll get a **** load of money for him and being in the CL we'll be able to spend it on top class players.

He's a genius and one of the best players this League's seen but we'll move on if and when he leaves.

Is it really?
I don't know much about yours or Man.C's but we only have a squad of 26 with 4 'keepers, 2 defenders with no PL experience at all, 5 midfielders with little or no PL experience plus a front line including Ba, Torres & Eto'o.

Poor Chelsea, if only they had just spent an extra £500 million more on wages and transfers instead of limiting it to £1 billion more then the competition they would be more competitive :(

I fundamentally respect how Mourinho does what he needs to win, etc, etc... but it's kinda lame that if Gerrard hadn't mis-controlled/slipped, the game would've finished 0-0 (imo), which would have been enough for Liverpool.

And enough for Chelsea, the PL is and has been out of our hands since v Sunderland so going to Anfield today and not losing is massive in regards to our CL qualification especially as Everton lost yesterday.

I think it summed it up with how strong your team was today and how had about 11 out :p

Kalas and Van Genkel (?) still cost Chelsea a lot so should be near the first team by now?

We have 1 injury at fullback and have to play Flanagan. You bring in Cole. We have an injury to 1 attacking player and have to change formation and bring in a midfielder. You leave out Hazard, Willian and Oscar and play Lampard, Salah and Schurrle.

Do Liverpool fans not believe that they will win the title?
I would prefer to be in Liverpool's position as they have the points in the bag.
Man City still have to win and get the points.
This year's title is very close, but Liverpool fans should not throw in the towel.

van Ginkel has had a knee ligament injury all season which he's only just coming back from, I don't understand the rest of your post :p

I agree with this 100%, but then my belief is that Chelsea do not have the players to create huge numbers of chances/attacks. Also, Mourinho teams play for the result, not for entertainment.

Remember they have no decent strikers.
Torres should've been sold or retired - he is terrible. And to think that they bought him for £50M...was it? Benetiz should've been sacked for that alone.

Eto isnt bad, but he seems to be always missing.

If Chelsea can get a great striker in the Summer, next season they will definitely feel confident about finishing top.
