Was your 2008 3 series a manual?
Yes, the auto's don't have it as they don't need it.

Hill hold assist only holds onto the brake for a couple of seconds after you release it, so it's still possible to roll backwards if you want to.

So, Audi claim that it isn't something they would usually fix and that the perspex cannot be changed on its own. However, "as a gesture of goodwill" they will contribute 50% of the cost of the part (the whole unit) and labour involved to replace it.
They are quoting the part at £640 and they will get back to me with regards to the labour involved.
This has now got me thinking... could this be an opportunity for me to change it to the colour DIS?
So it's going to cost you £320 to put right you new approved used Audi then, doesn't sound good to me. Sounds like they have already admitted it should be fixed by the offer of good will, they just need to pay for it all. They won't upgrade it to colour dis as it wasn't built with it.
If I was to pay the difference for the parts, would it be possible to do? I have been doing some Googling but cannot find the instrument cluster with a colour DIS. To be honest I don't even know if the colour DIS would work with the MMI Radio Plus I have.
