Just bought 8GB of this memory to replace my TeamGroup Xtreem 2666Mhz due to being red and black to go with my Maximus Impact.

Now i popped in the memory and ran XMP and it will not for the love of money boot up... It just keeps cycling on and off and wont even get into the bios with the XMP loaded.

Now if i dont load the XMP and reset CMOS it will get into bios to load defaults but not boot to windows and freeze in the bios.

What else can i try guys ?

It might be a z87 issue...I had the same thing with the same sticks but with an x-oc.

Set xmp and then manually set primary timings (I believe xmp runs 2t not 1t cr!) And manually set dram voltage to 1.65v.

I bought 24 gigs (4 x 8gb) of what you have a while back with the same problem, I narrowed it down to one stick of faulty ram, sent it all back.

So with a clean CMOS reset to get the dims running at jdec 1333mhz it still crashes?

Yes mate it was.

Nevermind sent it back and got 16GB coming instead.

As above mate and thanks for the feedback :)

Just hope the new lot are fine.

Unusual for G skill. I have just bought an 8Gb set as well the cas 9 stuff.
Have you gone for the cas 9 or 10 set? Apparently the cas 10 ram is more popular, and maybe better for over clocking due to ICs on the cas 10. Think the cas 9 are Samsung, but not sure - anybody know?

Yeah the 8GB 2400Mhz Kit use samsung too :)

Lets hope the 16GB will too.

I got the cas10 stuff so i hope they tighten up nicely or overclock well :)

The kit I had (is about to go for RMA quite ironically) would do 9-10-10 at 2400 after much fiddling but couldn't get a post out of 2600.

Well at least the gskill will match my board (colour wise) lol

Im not really fussed about going over 2400 tbh, as id like to just tighten up the timings to get the best out of the memory and system.

im running G.skill trident X 16gb (2x8gb) 2400mhz, cas10, the best mine will clock to is 2500mhz, but im happy with that, not really into overclocking my memory.

The beauty of this ram is if the top heatspreaders dont match you colour scheme you can remove them or even spray them, I have some green radiator spray on the way to paint mine to match the colour scheme of my G1 Sniper 5.
