So, with the announcement of 10gb ethernet via thunderbolt 2 to thunderbolt 2 port (covered here) what's the cheapest mainboard with a thunderbolt 2 port?

This neatly covers a setup I've been trying to achieve for a while.

Old post but no real reply. Anyone know what I should be looking for? Does need to be thunderbolt 2 it seems.

Seems the Asus Z87 Gryphon at £110ish might be about the cheapest, it's still a good bit more than I was hoping for (something around £80/90 would be nice).

Is Thunderbolt 2 not only Macs for now?

I do not think it took off as well as intended, USB 3.1 is almost here.

Yep and when I was looking for TB1 support on motherboards - they were expensive. £80-90 brand new is not going to happen.

I think only very high end mobos have TB support on them..

Like Z77, I only see them on M5E, and I dont think they support TB on M5F already.

Z97 boards have TB2 on them

I've seen Gigabytes Thunderbolt 2.0 motherboard but that's just the Z97 version of their current Z87 one, which is still one of the most expensive motherboards they make and a nightmare to get hold of in this country it seems. Are there many others? Or even just some with a Thunderbolt header on the motherboard?
