My daughters school - finally managed to contact her and all is ok.
Apparently they saw the lad with the knife and were all screamed at to get out. She's obviously in shock atm - I'll put some more details up after I've spoken to her.

It's a really good school, one of the better ones in Leeds, very well run. By all accounts the teacher was a Spanish teacher, and a very well liked one. RIP.

Such a horrible thing to happen.
My wife is a teacher in a school that has a high number of pupils from poor and broken homes, and who suffer from discipline problems, but thankfully violence against the staff is rare.

Absolutely shocking. My fiancee text me about this a few minutes ago. Words can't express how sad this is. You don't expect to turn up to teach and end up getting stabbed to death. I hope your daughter and her peers are as well as can be expected. RIP. :(

Absolutely shocking. The area where the school is located (where I live) can be pretty rough, but the school is superb, incredibly well run and sought after to get your kids into.

Amelia (youngest daughter) saw the first part of what happened before they were ushered out, and is badly shaken up. Will be home soon and I'll try to find out more details.

Dreadful news - and like you say no one turns up to teach expecting that.

Pass any information you have on to the police, don't post them here.

My sister is a teacher in a secondary school, stories like these really scare me  At 15 I bet the scum who did this gets a lenient sentence too - imo attacking a teacher in school should be treated as seriously as attacking an on-duty policeman used to be treated.

It's been a fair while since I've been in a school but from what you read, and see on the street sometimes, my first thought is that it's not surprising. Maybe this is a sign of worse to come, more America level carnage.

Is there a reason why it shouldn't be?

I would argue that assaults on Police are assaults on wider society due to the role they play. Regardless, many people believe they are sentenced harsher which isn't the case most of the time.

Anyway RIP for the teacher involved.
