From what I read on the bbc link, only a threat to people who read emails from dodgy sources, or use a preview/reading pane?
Same a most flaws in all the browsers then?

Kind of MS to 'discover' this flaw only days after ceasing support for XP and previous versions of IE. It's almost as if they want people to know about it so people feel forced to upgrade to an O/S with supported versions of IE.

Well I've been using IE for all these years without that exploit affecting me, so I will probably be ok to use it for the next couple of days or so until it is fixed.

Long-term though it doesn't look good for users of XP, if IE8 is no longer supported?

Also that image is extremely dubious, as Safari is on there as a "trusted browser."

Considering safari for windows has been all but abandoned by apple (there hasn't been an update in ages), it's likely to have more gaping holes in it's security then IE has.

It takes forever for Apple to fix holes on their own OSes. I wouldn't touch their windows stuff with a barge pole :P
