Gaming on a budget

Hi,

I'm looking to build up a gaming pc for a friend. The budget is £500 max as we also need to get windows 8.

We already have monitor, speakers, mouse, keyboard and a mechanical storage. The pc will be used for some light photoshop work and games such as lotro and total war series.

Initially I was looking at intel but it looks like AMD might go further at this price point. I was hoping some of you kind folks could spec me a build for the above purposes as my knowledge is less great with AMD. Intel or AMD are both fine with my friend, we just want the best for the budget he has.

Why not a fan of the cpu?

This cpu should be ideal for compact build but the power consumption and high TDP is not ideal. Would go for i3 instead on 1150 which have better upgrade path to i5 and i7
