Teacher stabbed to death at Leeds high school

LBC were banging on about it all of this morning. One woman called up complaining about how the kid has been "brain washed playing that Grand Auto Theft"!

People have been assaulted by drunks a lot more than video game players. You don't seem them banning alcohol! I don't see the link people can make between video games and turning that into real life behaviour either.

the daily mail is probably responsible for more assaults than vidya games, we should petition to ban that.

Has there anyone been saying 'oh no he clearly wasn't thinking clearly'. I remember in a forum I used to venture, there was a defense force for a 14 year old who murdered his teacher.

Turned out he put stuck sharp objects in her orifices 'oh he clearly is a hormonal teenager who wasn't thinking properly'' Funny how it's been found out we don't fully mature into our mid 20s due to the frontal lobe not being developed properly.

Lets throw out all people who committed murder in that demographic because clearly they weren't thinking clearly.

What worries me more than the computer games are all the nuns hanging around in the photos. Far more corruption surrounding cults like Christanity and Catholicism.

Really shocking, cannot fathom what would be going through a kids head to stab a teacher?

That is because you are mentally stable and this person has shown us a physical manifestation of the serious problems inside his head.

This was a despicable act, but it is now the job of the school, the parents and any other authorities this boy was known to, to work out what went wrong.

For the amount of people on these forums who laugh at religion it amazes me the number who believe in evil. If evil was some scary supernatural force then I would be right behind you locking these people up and throwing away the key. Unfortunately life is much more complicated than that, there is science behind why this happened. In a modern progressive society we work together to find the causes and take action to try and prevent it happening again.

We used to throw disfigured new-borns on the fire as we thought they had the mark of the devil...should we go back to that too?

It grinds my gears how the media keep trying to blame these kinds of incidents on games. I mean really, why try and hide the multitude of other factors that could have (probably have) caused this, and all the others? Poor parenting, education, mental illness (?), the list goes on.

Stop taking the easy option and blaming games, ffs.

exactly I am a gamer and I ahve never hurt anyone. I am sure the people in my bbasement would agree... XDXD jkjk

You should write for the DM with those sort of conclusions from a single isolated incident.

We are becoming increasingly Americanized as a country though.

Seems all the kids want to be "just like the 'muricans" and that just brings all sorts of wierd **** over with it, all the consumerism and greed and obesity. And "Yo I grew up in the hood, it's a gangster way of life for me" from all the scumbags off the estate.
It's the attitude of a nation after all.

And aside from that there's too many McDonalds.

Not saying it's to blame for this - probably just scumbag off the estate raised with no respect, or a posh kid ignored by his "upstanding pillars of society" parents.

But we're becoming too American and there will be consequences, it's been a long time coming - it's been happening since the late 70's and rapidly so in the 1980's

I always find it amazing that our justice system takes so long to ascertain guilt when the internet can do it in 30 seconds with absolutely no hard facts or context. The CPS need to pull their finger out, I pay their wages and if they're not careful I'll replace the whole system with mumsnet.

I agree with the concept of giving people who have taken a life a good nogging shooting, there is absolutely no better way of teaching the youth of today that taking a life is abborant than taking someones life.

Or we could stick with the old innocent until proven guilty system and a prison service that prioritises detterant and rehabilition above revenge and punishment. Whatever, as long as I get to break out my lynching hat every now and then.

Games are bad, well the addiction to games is bad.

Games are like any other distraction in life, they should be just that, a distraction and nothing more.

People get addicted, mis-meals, go without sleep, ignore friends and family.

Wonder how I know this?

Games ARE unhealthy - unless you have loads of will power and know when to put it down and walk away.

Also, they do absolutely nothing at all for your concentration levels, I suspect that they greatly contribute to ADHD.

That's an individuals choice. Doesn't make games bad whatsoever. There is a thing called choice. Far too often people play the blame game without looking at themselves and taking responsibility for their actions; nothing to do with the game.

So is taking drugs.
Problem is, drugs are addictive like gaming, it may start off as a 'choice' but it can easily become an addiction, with certain personality types.

Guess what happens when you spend a great deal of your time playing games, getting drunk, taking drugs, gambling? (Apply any 'addiction' here)

The wheels fall off your life, relationships suffer, fitness suffers, happiness suffers, work suffers.

Simply put, games themselves aren't bad, it's the addiction to that's the problem.

That is applicable to any number of hobbies. Some people have an addictive personality it's not the games that are 'unhealthy'. I suspect they have nothing to do with ADHD.
