Demo'd a brand new HD650 today and man! They are still on top.

Mids are unrivaled apart from the £900 LCD2! The 650 have them haunting, thick creamy beautiful mids that make me drool.

Theyare hands down the best phone Senn make IMO! I like the HD800 but they didn't have that immersive goosebump feeling the 650 gives.

These are next on my list :p

There's so many conflicting reports out there and people saying the HD600 is better.

why are the 600 £300 and the 650 £310, seems madness when the next step down the 598 is £165 currently.

Sennheiser HD 650 ($499)

I think the 600 is nice but the 650 is tuned to how I like it.

It's just thicker and the level of immersion is only bested by the LCD2 for me.

With headphones there is always going to be conflicting reports. Tyll is a big example the amount he contracts himself in some of his reviews is amazing. I still like to hear his opinion he's an excellent reviewer.

The price of them has always gone up and down Sennheiser are so annoying with the prices. I think the 650 and 600 are world class and potiential end game headphones and they are price correctly.

I can't think of anything better without going high end planar or HD800 and stax but even then the 650 have magical mids.

I still have my HD600's from over 10 years ago, and still going strong. Is there anywhere you can get replacement headband pads, as they went flat after i last moved house

Don't really have any experience with the 650s but I think the 650s are aimed a little more at the listening experience and the 600s a bit more at production work hence the difference in opinion. If someones looking for the purest sound then the 600s are the better choice but if your looking for a pleasurable listening experience the 650s.

If I had a spare £214 I'd be very tempted to take a punt on the HD600, the HD650 sounds as though it might be too laid back. I'm not sure that the rolled off treble would be a good idea for me, my abused and ageing ears need all the help they can get with high frequencies. :D

Love mine, have had them an absolute age. They took some damage, sent them to Sennheiser UK for repair on fixed fee £50 thing and basically got a brand new pair back :D

I was looking at the 600s but then I watched the below review of the X1. I bought the X1 and it's a brilliant headphone, more so after replacing the stock cable and burning them in for 40+ hours.

I wouldn't even consider the X1 If you can get the HD600.
In comparison they sound too grainy, peaky and not too good.

I'm not a fan of the X1 but they certainly appeal to a lot of people. They HD600 while I prefer the 650 are one of the best headphones out there IMO.

At £214 everyone should grab them quick!

As tempted as I am - my 600s are pretty much done (over 10 years old), these days I tend to be using smaller, lighter more portable headphones most of the time if I was spending any significant amount I'd probably be going for the momentums, I just don't seem to get to sit down and listen to music proper any more.
