They didn't have to remove bacon to be able to sell 'halal' meat. Surely asda sells both in the same Isle and the muslims I've seen seem to buy anyway. ..

That's because the meat is sealed in a package and can't be contaminated. You'll find there isn't Halal meat on the fresh meat counter.

In Subway the person making your sandwich might touch Haram meat and then touch Halal meat without changing his gloves or equipment then contaminating it.

By legal definition, it is. And it's enough for most muslims.

And, really, what's actually your point? Does it matter if it doesn't qualify as Halal by your arbitration?

For most? Or some? If that's okay thwn what's the problem serving bacon to those who want bacon?

There are many points here, such as the replacement of properly regulated meat being replaced by meat slaughtered via a cruel method.

Do I really want to have to check every establishment I go in to ensure its not halal? It's still not been disproven that Muhammed was in fact not the anti Christ. Do I want meat in humanely killed and blessed by a ritual to a possible anti christ?

You tell me why in England this is a positive step and one we should be striving towards? With any action you must be able to articulate the benefits of the move of you are in favour of it.

If you offer both halal and non-halal meat your costs will increase. My guess is that Subway weren't prepared to absorb these costs and identified which stores could switch and not lose money or even actively make more money.

Meat eaters complaining about how meat is killed....I will never understand.
Most livestock get treated like **** period, and yet some people get all offended when it comes to the exact instrumentation of how its killed.

give me a break.

I thought 185 stores sounded a lot, but they have over 1700 stores in the UK, so it's not that big a number of stores affected really.

To be honest, just go to a proper sandwich shop if you want bacon, Subways bacons is disgusting.

whoa there fella.. here in GD we dont do common sense when it comes to dem der MUZLINS.

Hmm no.... It's about choice.

New stores opening creating jobs
Existing stores will be able to attract more customers

The Halal stores are only in areas where their is a demand. I'd put money on it that serving Halal meat will outweigh the sales of pork products.

I know exactly how you feel :D

@ The Running Man , You are one of the few sensible peeps on this forum.

Reading many threads in the GD section I know now how Britain is a total mess today.

I have not ate out a kebab shop for 5-6years after looking into halal meat and seeing videos, there is no need for religion to come into killing an animal.

I am not a vegan and like meat and at the end of the day they all get killed to eat but I do not believe in unnecessary cruelty, it should be done fast as possible.

And stunning a animal before hand is not Halal so that is BS what Subway claim.

Same goes for Jewish kosher meat.

Try going to Iran or Saudi and getting them to change their ways for a minatory of us living there.

Well said. I guarantee that some ignorant cretin will disagree with what you posted though. This is GD after all.

*Popcorn*

Why can't the Non Halal people just go to a different subway that isn't Halal rather than rage quitting Subway altogether

Why cannot UK stop bending over and bending EA laws on this practice for a minority?

Ever heard of When in Rome?

@ Sliver, This GD section gives me no hope for the future (in many topics), no wonder kids are as dumb as they are today.

Does anybody really trust any aspect of farming, slaughter, and/or food preparation ?

Businesses are profit-centric and any way to reduce costs must be considered. Battery eggs sold as free range, horse as beef, halal as non-halal, and non-halal as halal. I am convinced it all happens.

Such places are spot-checked but nobody watches them full-time. I imagine they are squeaky clean when the food standards people are visiting but default to highest profit practises when they leave.

What new stores? And jobs for who?

The stores are possibly in immigrant enclaves that shouldn't exist in that state to begin with. Two wrongs obviously don't make a right.

You can't integrate if you demand changes that alienate those who you should be trying to integrate yourself with not create huge divides.

What's wrong with a business changing 10% of its stores to allow Muslims to eat there?

They're not banning non muslims from it

Why are people so ragey over this? It's proper the lowest denominators getting all huffed and puffed over nothing.
