Is a GTX 680 the same as a GTX 770?

My mobo doesn't handle pci v3.0 and looking at a few random posts it appears the 680 is the same as the 770 with a small speed increase. Should I consider upgrading from my GTX 470 to a 680 instead and save some money or am I missing something. It's MS FSX that I'm using the card for. No other gaming / simming.

The 770 should be marginally ahead of the 680 but don't worry about PCIe 3 vs 2 they are compatible so a 770 won't be a waste. However you'll probably find more 680 bargains around.

Andi.

The only real difference is memory speed. 1500 vs 1750 on the 770. Most 680's will OC to 1750 on the memory though.

Well getting hold of a new 680 is hard and I'd rather not buy a used GPU from someone I don't know so it looks like a 770 for me as it fits my budget.

Just made the same decision mate, with spending that much money I'd rather have it brand new full warranty etc and all the 680's I found were almost double the price of a 770!
