Which 780 for SLI

I'd be looking to get reference cards in SLI.
Though if you had good spacing between the cards the jetstreams would work. The cooler on them is very good.

Hi,
I'm hoping to be building a new PC soon and while to start with I'll probably go for a single 780 the longer term plan will be to get 2 of them in SLI.
I will probably aim to do some moderate overclocking on them but especially once SLI'd, stability and quietness will be my most important requirements.

Now I can see there is a wide range of cards with very different coolers so are there any in particular I should be looking at or avoiding?

Many Thanks,

Ross
You will need a £162-300 highend PSU for starters 700W will not be enough & what res do you game at if 1920x1200 or lower just get a decent GTX 780 Ti anything else will be overkill & a waste of money.

Then consider if you really want SLI you will need a much faster Intel based CPU+Mobo etc etc to get the full benefit.

SLI needs a very fast system & 780's would be a total waste unless your display is 1440 or higher & or you have more than 1 screen.

Buy a better SSD as well those Bigfoot SE's are pretty poor (I still have one its terribly slow nowadays) compared to recent SSD's from Intel, Samsung & Plextor. You will get a much better gaming boost from a newer faster SSD with a single GTX 780 Ti than SLI!

Reference cards are best for SLI as they dump heat out the back of the case.

+1 I went for the highest overclock and non reference design I could find at the time, I had nothing but problems trying to keep the top ones temps down and had to do quite a few mods.

Doesn't matter gpu vendor you pick, when it comes down to two non reference designs in crossfire/sli theres almost always heat issues unless you have good spacing between the cards.

I personally would go for EVGA. As they have extended warranties if you call up and pay like £10. For a extra year. Also they look sexy! And there customer service is amazing! !

Yeah don't worry, the 780 will be going into a completely new system, not just an upgrade to the one in my sig.
It'll be based around a new Devils Canyon 4790k assuming prices aren't too silly, or a 4770k if they are. Monitor wise I'm still tossing up between 1440p or 1080p@120Hz and as I said in the OP, to start with I'll just get the one 780 but with the longer term aim of adding the second.
