9 Car Bomb 18 Dozens Syria Kafat, Hama, Syria Eighteen people were killed and dozens were injured in a massive car bombing of the central Syrian village of Kafat, located in Hama province. The car bombing occurred at the village school leaving a number of women and children as well as pro-government militiamen killed and wounded. 17 Grenade attack 1 35 Thailand Bangkok, Thailand A blast occurred, most likely from a grenade as reported by Bangkok police officials, at a rally led by an oppositional protest leader Suthep Thaugsuban during the ongoing political crisis that started in November 2013 in Thailand. 25 Grenade Attack 1 33 Madagascar Antananarivo, Madagascar Hours after the presidential-elect, Hery Rajaonarimampianina, took the oath of office and became the President of Madagascar in an attempt to have the nation emerge from years of diplomatic isolation following the coup and rule of former strongman Andry Rajoelina, a grenade was tossed into the stadium grounds where Rajaonarimampianina inauguration had been held, causing an explosion that left a lot of material damage to the stadium and left one person dead and an additional thirty-three injured. 30 Gun Attack/Hostage Taking/Suicide Bombing 24 50 Iraq Baghdad, Iraq Six attackers, suspected members of Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIS) seized control of a government Ministry of Transportation building in north-eastern Baghdad, and took a number of employees hostage. The attackers killed nine hostages when the Iraqi army moved into reseize control of the building and four of the attackers detonated suicide explosive vests throughout the building during numerous gun battles with police and army personnel.
