Yet when Zoomee's article linked to a peer-reviewed article by German scientists about the pain in slaughter you weren't interested  You either trust the scientific method or not :p

I read that article and found it wanting (1970's I believe when the study was made). I then googled some other recent articles on the subject which completely debunked that article. Since then we've come a long way in our understanding.

You do understand that unlike dogmatic religion, science can change over time right ? Science follows the evidence. Religion tries to make the evidence fit the dogma. A crucial distinction.

Faith is not belief without evidence at all. It is the trust and confidence in something, which for you is science. Ergo, you put your faith in science.

Straight from the Oxford Dictionary :

Faith.

Strong belief in the doctrines of a religion, based on spiritual conviction rather than proof

Belief without evidence like I said. A spiritual conviction is nothing evidence based, it's simply a feeling or intuition.

That is one definition of faith, not THE definition of faith.

So you finally agree that one definition of faith is belief without evidence. Thank you. Why didn't you just concede that from the start instead or arguing on and on ?

Religion is faith based. It requires the believer to suspend critical thinking, reason, logic and rational thought and become a sycophant to an idea. This is faith in the context of religion.

Oh lawd, are you being serious? No one ever said that wasn't a form of faith. I have been maintaining that you don't understand what faith means because you have been suggesting that is all faith encompasses.

It's not about ignoring anything. It's about context. In the context of religion the definition of faith I gave is the correct one.

Derp, yet I said your stance is faith based, which you said it isn't. The definition I provided shows that it is in fact faith based.

Put the shovel down, it's getting embarrassing now.

Are you being serious or do you have some form of mental retardation I should know about ? You kept incorrectly asserting for some reason, that I didn't know the definition of faith. When I gave you my view and then a dictionary definition you admit that is a correct definition but then try to assert that I'm not using the right one. Are you completely incapable of rational thought ?

How does what you have said make any sense ? You're just making things up now. I told you clearly that I don't have faith in anything and that I had trust in things. I explained how this trust was acquired quite clearly in my previous posts but now you're ignoring all that and accusing me again of having faith. Are you honestly not trolling me ?

Just convinces me that a lot of businesses survive due to sheer luck rather than managerial competence, given that their most popular subs are the ones with ham or bacon in them, this could well be the nail in the coffin for the franchise.

I told you clearly that I don't have faith in anything and that I had trust in things.

Really? What is it about the word faith that scares you so much? You realise they mean the same thing, right? Are you worried your lord and saviour Richard Dawkins will scoff at you for it at the next Arrogant Atheist AGM?

Sorry but that post bores me. You shouldn't really engage in conversations which are above your pay grade. :o

You should find a hobby, it might help with the delusion. I genuinely pity you.

Don't pity me I'm fabulous. Pour that energy in to sorting your own life out. Maybe read a few books and keep an open mind to new ideas.

That's my 2 cents. Spend it wisely. ;)
