Samsung U28D590 28" 4K 60Hz 1ms Gaming Widescreen LED Monitor - Black **OcUK Exclusive**

I'm thinking of getting one of these.

Would my gtx690 manage the res ok in gaming ?

any comments appreciated

thanks:D

Yes, technically you'll be fine.

However, you may experience issues with playing games. On the same side, you'd be better off with 2!

I would personally look at getting a 1440p monitor as 4k is still at the gimmiky stage!

You will have to drop settings a fair bit, not because of grunt (for the most part) but because of the VRAM limitations :(

At that res the card is probably slower than a 290 or something, just because of the gimped bus. I don't think VRAM will be a problem as i doubt you'll be able to get playable framerate at the settings required to take it past 2048mb ;)

Will work, just dont expect high+ settings.

AA off and drop some settings slightly and you should be fine. Depends on the game really but you'll be VRAM limited and also lacking in grunt as well.

That monitor does 4k in a single stream. Nvidia does not support that with SLI. So no, your GTX 690 will not run ok with one of those.

Don't buy it until Nvidia's next driver comes out. They've said the next driver will support this monitor with SLI, but don't waste your money until it's a sure thing.

It already supports it

Sorry, didn't mean to come across that way :o

Just had a read thru that now, didn't realise so many where having issues.

I was going off Gregsters review and he's using Sli Titans without issue.

Yeah it seems to run fine for some people. No clue why though, seems random.

Apparently Nvidia is aware there is an issue but they haven't said exactly what the issue is, so it's impossible to know how to avoid it right now. Besides waiting for the driver (which is what I think he should do).

How do you connect a GTX 690 to a 4K monitor, it does not have a Displayport connector ?

It has a mini-Displayport jack.

You're correct, they do come with a mini displayport.

People with 780Tis/780s/Titans/770s having issues and some not. No idea what the difference is to be honest buth thankfully, it runs well for me... Phew :p
