Where is the cheapest place for flights, in your experience?

I want a return to America, and the cheapest in around £600.
Even if I were to book a flight for tomorrow.

I want to go literally anytime any day.

A return to America? Pretty vague - thats basically an entire continent spanning from the top of the globe to the bottom. I suspect you mean the USA but again, vague - one side is 3000 miles from the other. You can certainly fly to the East Coast for far less than £600.

http://www.skyscanner.co.uk is always the best place to start, IMHO.

As said, Skyscanner. Quick check and you can fly Gatwick - Orlando Sandford for 289 return. But that's with Thomson. And I wouldn't really do that, it's just an example :p You can fly to more useful airports with nicer airlines for <400, if you really are completely flexible - really depends where you want to go.

Just check Skyscanner, set your destination as US and dates as "Whole month" and see what comes up.

Everywhere and anywhere, there is never going to be one place cheaper than the other place.

Skyscanner and cheapoair are first ports of calls though. Before just searching the web.

I search on Kayak, Skyscanner and Expedia. Slight nuances between searches and date flexibility, particularly when going for multi-destination trips. I like the grid function on Kayak.

How on earth did you get it to £289?

Use w8 skyscanner app, unless they've updated their website to show the same thing.

Select outbound flight, inbound prices may change at this point, if it's significant, may want to consider booking to single flights from different operators.

Check prices as it's not always accurate

Rally is an amazing tool for working out prices and seeing the difference over the entire year. No need to keep entering in many different dates, or only limited to +-3 days

I personally look at the main brokers and then book direct. I haven't yet found a broker that was cheaper than going direct with an airline, except for when I book business class flights for work with American Express Global Business Travel.
